Toddler in pain ears back of head/neck ??

Hi all, haven't been on in a long time but looking for some advice please !! My nearly 3 year old son started complaining about a sore ear tonight within an hour he was crying worse than I have seen.. Had given him nuerofin when he first started complaining. Rang doc and he said it sounded like severe ear infection to bring him in and he would have a look.. Nothing no red ear no red throat chest fine. After a while he slept and woke about 4 hours later crying with a pain in the back of his neck / head gave him para link suppository and he is sleeping fitfully beside me... I am so freaked out about meningitis.. Will take him back to doc in the morning, has anyone every seen or heard of this ... He has not fallen or banged himself recently to cause it either...

I'd take him back to the doctor today. If you're really worried just go to after hours. Hope he's feeling better soon xx
