i was just wondering which one everyone prefers and why. i'm trying to decide which bottles to get when the baby is born as i have to go back to school the week after and i want her to keep nursing.

I've never used the TT ones, but I LOVE my breastflow bottles. They have been great. I have had to use them since LO was 3 weeks old and have never had any problems with nipple confusion. He's also always taken them very well.

tigerlady--how difficult are they to clean?

I don't find them difficult at all. I have a standard bottle brush and that works well. After I cleaned them in soap and water, I would boil them in water to sterilize them. I did that until LO was about 6 months and then I just washed them without sterilizing.

The nipple is two part... and inner and outer nipple. So when it is all put together it looks like it would be hard, but when you take it apart, it is easy. Just like cleaning two nipples per bottle.

I loved the idea of the breastflow ones but we always found that the outer bit of the teat seemed to collapse in on itself, not too sure why  We never had problems with the TT ones, no nipple confusion but then we might have been lucky.

I haven' used TT ones but the breastflow ones are brilliant. Nathan wouldn't take any bottle and took the breastflow ones no problem! He goes back on the breast with no fuss at all after having the breastflow bottle.

I know it is not the same for everyone but i would recommend these :)

We use breastflow with Freddie. He used to have both breastflow and TT but he started refusing the TT ones just before he was 4 weeks old. Hes fine with the breastflow and is being put to the breast now as well ans has taken to it perfectly so big thumbs up from me, this is a baby who has been exclusively fed from bottles with EBM til he was 5 weeks old and wasnt once latched on the breast til this point but latched on first go when the breast was offered!

Well that's a massive thumbs up for Breastflow!

Wow! Yes it is! Way to go Freddie!

Lu, the outer nipples are meant to collapse quite a bit. That is the how it makes them open their mouth and take more of the nipple in to mimic taking the breast into their mouth. My friend had a problem with them collapsing to the point where LO couldn't get anything from them when her LO was a tad older and had a stronger suck -- she moved her up to the stage 2 flow nipple on them and she's done fine since.

Maybe Aisling just has a mega strong suck??

Have never tried breastflow but my lo would just NOT have the Avent bottles so he was only on pure boob until 6 months we tried a TT and he seems to take to it with no probs :)

We have TT bottles because in order to be allowed home from hospital we had to have something to feed her with (as she wasn't taking breast at that time) and everywhere we could get to was out of stock of Breastflow. We have had no problems with nipple confusion and baby is will happily switch between breast and TT bottles.

TigerLady, I bet that's what the problem was. She was fine with them at first and then all of a sudden they really started collapsing - never thought to get a bigger sized teat!

we switched Freddie to the next size teat because he suddenly started screaming at us and fussing...fixed it straight away!
