Too late for epidural at...?

Probably because by the time they get round to doing it you'll already be pushing lol!

It took me over an hour and a half to get mine sorted!

^^ wss, also you have to stay really really still which I don't imagine would be very easy when you're really wanting to push

probably because of time restraints. don't epidurals take some time to administer and then to work? i would imagine if you were 9cm you'd have a hard time staying still to get one, i know i would have! mind you, i couldn't keep still at 7cm... :dohh:

i got mine at 10 cm. they realised i was fully dialated, i freaked .. they got the anestheiologist (sp) and had it administered within about 10 mins, maybe less (felt like forever cause i wanted tp push) .. then soon as it was in i started pushing

Its bloody not easy, lol!

I got one at 10cm, due to the fact i couldnt stop myself from pushing but Finn had his cord over his shoulder and his heartbeat kept dropping when i pushed. They wanted to give me an hour for him to work his way down. It was only due to a very good midwife that i didnt end up with a section! It takes about 20 seconds to kick in, and i found it that good i slept for that hour before pushing! 3 days without sleep, i couldnt stay awake!

I got one at 9cm. Think I got it so late because I had an anterior lip and had been at 9cm for about 4 hours at that stage. I had the epidural at around 4.30pm and LO was born (via forceps) at 9.50pm that night. I think they knew he wasn;t going to come of his own accord and that's why they gave it to me.

Was there enough time for it to start working before pushing?

LO was delivered about 15 min later, so it didnt kick in 100%, but it eased the pain quite a bit , like i felt goood compared to how i felt prior to recieving it

Mine was at least 9cm possibly 10cm?!? No one knew i was in labour til i was 9cm?

It worked let me assure you ;)

Mine worked too. I went from wanting someone to murder me to laughing and joking and feeling great. Took about 1 1/2 hours to kick in properly though!

I had mine put in at about 8, 9 cm... because I was GBS positive, and I progressed faster then the antibiotics they had gotten into me. So, I had to wait another two hours for it to be fully through my system, before they would allow me to push.

I sat there for an hour with my bag of waters just hanging out!! But I felt perfectly fine, other then feeling the need to push, 'cause the epidural was working so well.

Yeh I don't think mine was 100% either, pain wasn't as excruciating but still pretty bad and felt everything. Was baffled by it cos had always assumed it just numbs everything asap!

they told me it would take about 15 mins to fully work .. but it was kind of good in a way, because i was only in a little bit of pain, and could still move my legs no prob;

I was told if you have got to '8 it's too late'

I didn't have one, but i presume it would be in case youcouldnt resist pushingwhile they were putting the needle in or something?

Wow, how did they not know till 9cm...?

God knows, I was too proud to show pain or something  the midwives sat on their arses and seen to other women until I screamed a swear word  *writes note to self for this time*

Maybe they could have stopped labour if they had clicked before, but they assumed I was fine at 27+4. :dohh:

Lozzy I agree lol everything went a little blurry after those words
