too late to start clomid??

Hi my dr prescribed provera to induce a bleed so i could start clomid, I've recently been diagnosed with PCOS and hadn't had a period for approx 5 months, i took the provera and started to bleed after the 3/4th day, my dr told me to continue with provera until i'd had all 7 pills

i was meant to start clomid cd2, i continued to bleed after stopping provera so asked dr what to do, should i count this as cd1, he said it seems a natural period coincided with the provera and that it is just bad timing this month but to start the clomid anyways and count today as cd2. I'm more like cd6/7 so think it's prob too late this month, i'm really annoyed that i might have missed a chance when i was finally getting somewhere

does anyone know if you can start clomid cd6 or even 7 and if it works?

i would just go for it if doc has said you can, you might just ov a bit later in your cycle but hey, better late than never
