Too much weight gain?

My wee guy was 6lb exactly at birth and now at 8 weeks he's 11lb 10oz. Is that too much of a weight gain? He's bf but has recently had some formula due to issues. Am I over feeding him? Xxx

That's a lot but I don't think it's too much at all. My daughter was 5lbs 11oz at birth and had more than doubled her weight by two months. The Pediatrician was not concerned at all. She's five months now and is gaining more slowly (average amount). I'm pretty sure over feeding is a myth if you're breastfeeding. My La Leche League breastfeeding book says you cannot overfeed a breastfed baby.

you cant overfeed any baby, if their tummy is full they vomit the excess.

ummm..well..my bebe was worn at 6lb..and at his 2 month check up, he was 10lb 6oz..paed said great weight gain

Sounds good to me! He's gone from just above the 5th to just above the 25th. Weight gain isn't always linear anyway.

Thank you. Got in to a bad habit of comparing him to my friends little boy. Hes 6 weeks older and is only 12lb 6oz and thought it meant Alexander was far too heavy. Forgot other wee boy was only 4lb at birth xxx
