Top ten things you wish you knew before TTC

I wish I knew how much birth control pills mess with our cycle and how long it takes to regulate. If had known, I would have gone off bcp a long time ago.

Does anybody else go thru their day and randomly use the ttc abbv in normal daily activities?

This gets my vote! That it would've been a good idea to go off BCP sooner. AND I want to add: that I was ready before I thought I was. Wish I had known that!! :dohh:

I also you TTC terms (only in my head, thank goodness) for just about everything TTC-related!

Once you start temping and charting and poas and checking cm... You dont stop til you get that :bfp: its addicting! That darn 2ww is a monster! most of all i wish i knew that having unprotected :sex: doesnt garantee a baby or even a pregnancy. (i just remember all the girls in high shcool who got pregnant the first time their bfs talked them into not using a condom) just didnt think itd be this hard. (i know i know just wait till it happens. Ill be thinking this was the easy part.)

How much strength we have to keep trying every month, even after heartaches and disappointment! :hugs2:

I am on board with this - I work in a deprived area and it's full of teenage and young mums who go round saying things like 'I wasn't even trying and it happened' - how does it work so quickly for them and not all of us??

Wipe..... no AF...... Wipe again..... no AF.......

Wiping too bloody much!! OUCH

I also agree with this one. I've told my DH that I'm not going back on it. So tired of waiting for AF to arrive.

Agree with all of these.
The main one for me is wishing I had come off bc sooner.

That u'll feel guilty if you go to the loo normally, rather than taking a sample or POAS!!!

Good luck to all TTCers :dust:

That DH's meds were causing sperm issues. It wasted the first 12 months of our ttc journey. arghhhhhh!!

that people who say, "when are you gonna have a baby?" or "why don't you have children yet?" are annoying and must be avoided at all costs.

xxx ladies!

Do you mind me asking what kinds of meds he was taking? My husband is on a couple different things and Im starting to wonder if that is effecting him...

you start looking everywhere for signs i.e. when you see a car with bfp on the numberplate, or a van with the company initials bfp you think oo this could be one when in fact just a coincidence.

adding every app invented for cycle tracking etc just to see if you have a better date/month/cycle on a different one. not really a good one, but takes up time i suppose lol.

that this online community would be where you speak to people most days/evenings/weekends, getting the fabbest support ever and making great friends. even though they in turn get their bfp's and you are still waiting, you dont mind as you are so genuinely happy for them it makes you cry and all emotional knowing how hard it has been for them too.

hi butterflies,

Not at all. It was meds for his epilepsy, he was on Epilim (Sodium valproate). I had read some stuff on the net when we started trying that suggested it could cause issues, but every time we saw a Dr they told me that they couldn't comment as no 'official' medical reports had been done on it. He had a Sperm analysis on it and it was terrible, then later he changed meds due to having a few seizures and a few months later the sperm test was within normal levels. We conceived shortly after he changed meds but had a mmc and are just about to start ttc again. I have found more sites where men have updated their sperm results before and after this medication, and they all saw a huge improvement when they came off it.

It's just such a shame that even when I was asking if it could cause us issues nobody was listening or researching for us. We wasted 12 months with him on this medication. It does make me cross but I guess we can't change anything now so need to keep trying!

xx

Thanks for sharing and Im sorry about your MC:cry:

My husband is on a couple of different things for his high blood pressure and I am really worried that it might be effecting him. I am going to see my doctor July 7th to make sure everything is in order for me but I almost think he should get checked out too... Am I crazy for worrying?

how you never feel alone in how hard it is to ttc - but sometimes that makes it even harder, knowing how many people from all different areas are having troubles aswell.
