hey ladies...just wondering those who top up with formula how much you do ?? i've been gradually topping up less and less but i feel like i've hit my wall and cant decrease anymore...daisy knows when she's due some of the fake stuff and won't settle till she's had it :( she pretty much constantly feeds most of the morning and has a 3 oz top up at around lunch time
has a sleep and a bit of awake time n then feeds from around 6pm till 10 screams for an hour while i have a shower etc then i feed from 11-12/12.30 ish then she gets another 3 oz
she goes down for bed then n usually sleeps till 3/4.30 ish n has very little breast and we offer her 4 oz but recently we've had to start waking her up again between 3/4.30 for her feed and she hasnt really been interested in the feed at all..last night she slept fron around 12.30 till 6.30

i felt awful for letting her sleep thru as she's not had the best weight gain....what do you 's think??

also anyone who's taken fenugreek - how long did you take it for ??? is there a limit????

thanks in advance

If you give her a top up at night before you go to bed make up a bottle of 4-5 oz and let her drink as much as she wants. TBH I would try and only bf her as much as you can during the daytime, the more you let her feed the better your supply will be. If you need the bedtime bottle, still go for that as it may help her sleep and settle at night.

You can take fenugreek for as long as you need to... although i've read that it can make some babies colicky (not sure if its true). Once you get your supply up you shouldn't really need it anyway.

If you just keep putting her on your supply will meet her demand. When you top up you tell your boobs they are making enough when they arent.

If you still want to use some formula to give you a break from the cluster feeding during the evening that can work well. I would pump in the morning enough to give myself a mid evening break. I think it's good to make their last feed breast rather than bottle though. I think psychologically it will help you to realise you CAN satisfy her is you just keep going.

Dont forget they have a growth spurt around 6 weeks too so it's even more important to keep putting her on so your supply adjusts.

My LO slept like that from 3 weeks and I never woke her to feed her. So long as she's gaining steadily personally I'd leave her to sleep. :D
