Haven't ever taught a well-behaved Mark!! Back to the original problem.. like the name (tho OH doesn't) but too many memories of hauling 'Mark' out of assembly in the middle of the hymn!!

The Roman god of war is actually Mars.

Mark is a nice classic name though. It's really hard being a teacher. Associations can really kill a name.
