Transvaginal ultrasound & tech being creepy or normal?

Same in Canada, whenever there a male professional, they often have a female assistant. I'm not sue if it's required though, and it's for their protection too!

Actually in UK the chaperone can be male or female depending on availability.

Huh? Didn't I read that this guy has 13 years experience? Surely, in all those years, he's encountered someone with shy ovaries before (I've been told by a few techs that it's pretty common)... shouldn't he have already KNOWN different techniques that don't involve dildo-ing the poor woman?

I totally understand how you feel, but at least they addressed it and didn't just brush you off. Consider this - if he was deliberately using his ultrasound wand in a sexual way and getting jollies off of it, then yes, he deserved to be fired, and even censured professionally. BUT, if he really and truly didn't, then he's probably really humiliated right now, which is an appropriate punishment for a tech whose technique sucks, but who isn't really a perv. You know?

If this guy had had several complaints on his record, then that would totally have been reasonable to expect, but you just don't know. This may be the first complaint he's ever had on his record...they have to be really careful about that stuff.

But I still think you were totally right to bring it to his higher-ups...either way, the problem has been addressed (and if he WAS being pervy and they erroneously believed what he was saying, then a) maybe this will stop his behavior anyway, or worst case, b) he'll do it again and THEN he'll get canned).

Did nobody at the meeting say anything about the chaperone who was playing with her phone and not watching?? There isn't any question about her intentions, and if she were doing her job properly (is anyone arguing that she was? I'd think it's obvious she wasn't!), this may not have ever been an issue for you. Her "technique" could stand for much improvement!
