Hi, I'm looking for some advices regarding cycles after mc. I miscarried on 1st January, and stopped bleeding about 1 week ago. Trying again certainly hasn't been on our minds as we were quite overwhelmed with the loss. 3 days ago I had so much stringy cm like never before, and felt so horny it was totally out of character. Needless to say hubby got pounced on, and now I'm worried that it is my hormones and I was ovulating. I just don't think I'm mentally ready to start another pregnancy yet for fear of losing another baby.

It sounds heartless to ask, but as ladies with experience of ttc after miscarriage, is ovulation possible this soon after miscarriage? And does it affect the health of the pregnancy if I were to be lucky enough to get caught positive so soon. I have spent hours googling, but the answers are so contradictory, I though I would ask here. Thankyou x

yes you can ovulate early after a MC after my fist one I did and got pregnant and all was ok he is a fine healthy boy now in my research many get pregnant before AF ever returns and for the huge majority have no problems and a healthy baby and small amount do mc again but they say your fertility is higher after a loss and greater chance of concieving and having your baby.

I am hoping I am lucky this time and get pregnant again quickly :flower:

Yes it's possible to O early. And there is evidence to suggest it's actually better to get pregnant within 6 months or miscarriage than to wait longer. After my MC this summer I read that over and over. I think the benefits of waiting are more to be emotionally ready and to date the pregnancy. But if it does happe. Earlier than you were hoping there is no room for concern physically.

My Dr said is was possible and fine if it happened that early. He said your body will let you know when it's ready. Some women have a cycle without ovulating and some ovulate right away. My husband is actually a rainbow baby...my MIL didn't even have a period, just conceived a couple weeks later. :hugs:

I should add that my MIL said that is the only way to recover...to conceive again. We just lost our first pregnancy to MC on January 6th...and my husband is talking about not trying again. I want to try again as soon as I'm cleared for it, so things are a little rocky over here.

biscuits104 hopefully you can make him see remind him if his mum waited he many not be here :hugs:

Hi RAFmrs2
I had an early miscarriage on dec 7th and I didn't get a positive OPK the month after. I am now on my 2nd cycle on CD15 and still no positive OPK as of yet :( however I heard that it can also happen very quickly, lots of women fall pregnant the very next cycle. It seems to vary from woman to woman. Wishing you luck and I hope you get your :bfp: very soon :flower:

Hi trying4first1. Just thought id tell you my first cycle after MC I didn't O either. 2nd cycled O was around CD 21. I was so discouraged when O wasn't showing but it was just a bit late and I got a BFP that month.

Hi Kazy

Thank you for your reply. Its lovely to hear that all went well for you in the end :) Perhaps I will be like you and ovulate later this cycle as body is still getting back to normal. Just out of curiosity how long are your cycles? Mine have gone down to 28 days. I had a very late ovulation the month i conceived (OV on CD19) which wouldn't have given me a long LP. So I'm wondering is it normal to have a late OV and still get a :bfp: on a 28 day cycle?

I'm actually 24 weeks pregnant now but my cycles were between 28-30 days before MC. I don't know if I understand exactly what you are asking but I'll answer with this: the day if O doesn't effect whether you will get a BFP if you time BD correctly. I wouldn't test based on 28 day cycle I would test based on when you know you O. Do you normally O late and still have AF on day 28?

Hi Kazy

Yes, I normally have AF on day 28 so was worried if late ovulation could effect getting a :bfp: due to it being too late for implantation. However, I am pleased to say that I got a dark positive on my OPK yesterday afternoon after writing my post, which was a complete shock as I won't normally get one until CD 18 and yesterday was CD15!! :) So i am hoping that I ovulated today on CD 16 which is a huge difference.
From knowing your situation, it shows that pregnancy is possible with a late ovulation on a 28 day cycle :)

Yes absolutely! Many women O later than the average.

I miscarried Boxing Day... My cycles are normally 31/32 days with Ov around day 17-22... But after MC, I had OPK+ on day 12 with other signs of Ov (wayyyy early for me).

I then had light AF day 26, off and on for a few days... Then big bitchy AF turned up day 33 (normal-ish for me).

We didn't TTC that cycle so can't comment on fertility but timings can definitely be odd post MC.

Good luck.
