Hi

Only joined the forum yesterday and suppose im doing this to help me accept whats going on at the moment - I love reading other peoples posts and finding im not alone in what Im going through!! Any thoughts our advice you may have please share this with me Im currently nearly 30 I had my first child when I was 25 and have been ttc #2 for the past two years I was trying for about 9 months for my DD, had a normal pregnancy and ended up having an emergency cs. Since coming off the pill about three and a half years ago initially I had a 28 day cycle however, over the past two years My cycle seems to be around 25 to 28 days and I tend to spot for a couple of days before and after my period and now and again a week before my period is due. I have used OPKs in the past and I dont always get a positive result but when I have its usually around 9 days before my period is due which could also indicate that I have a short LP. I approached my doctor about a year ago and he said that he didnt want to give me any fertility drugs as far as he is concerned I do ovulate (blood results came back ok) and I need to relax about it abit more and it will happen?! I feel terrible about getting upset each month because ive been blessed with a healthy beautiful DD but cant help feeling that the family isnt complete - which to people without children may sound ungrateful, Im not but cant help the desire I have to have another child.......If anyone has gone through the same thing as me or has any advice Id be grateful for any information you can give me!! Thanks xx

Hi, I dont really have much advice but I have the same issue. I dont always get a positive opk and when i do it is typically on cd20 in a 28 day cycle. My ob would not do anything, even though it was my 14 month ttc. I ended up having to go to a fertility specialist who started me on femara. I have to get an ultrasound every month to check how many follicles I have bc I usually ovulate on my own. This month, on femara, I only had one follicle and it is still on the smaller side. I gave myself a trigger shot this month on cd15 and she has me taking progesterone to help with my luteal phase. She is going to increase my dose next month if i am not pregnant.
I know you can buy progesterone cream otc so maybe you can try that. I have also heard b6 should help, but it never helped me. also, if you take fertilaid it has vitex which is suppose to help. I say try all three. You just cant take femara/clomid with the vitex.
Good luck! and welcome to the forums, hopefully you will have a short stay here. It is always a good sign if you were able to concieve before :)

I would look into taking progesterone - either as the cream, a pessary, or as an injection. Also vitex agnus cactus herb is a good one to try :)

wow, reading your post sounds exactly like me.

I however am overweight and need to lose 3.5 stone to get my BMI to 30 before i will get any help with clomid
I have started started taking agnus castus and i have been taking it for 3 months, i have stopped spotting. However i am using duo fertility and it confirmed ovulaion cd17 yet AF still showed up cd27 so lutheal phase only 10 days which is short too. I have started to take a B6 tablet each day this week, so i hope that helps.

I hope some other ladies comment and have some more useful information for us xx

My cycle is also a little short and I spot early. I've taken Prometrium (orally) and that didn't change my spotting. The only thing that has worked for me is Crinone (vaginal). It's a pain, but worth it for me! I know that everyone is different, but that's what works for me.

hello and welcome to the forum :D My story is quite similar except my FS has now given me clomid to try and kick start everything, perhaps you need to find another doctor who will take you seriously. My numbers were ok as far as Oing on my own but are a heck of a lot better on clomid. Last month was the first time I took B6 ( 100mg days 1-14 150mg days 14-30 and I took my cycle from 25 days with a 9 day LP to a 28 day cycle with LP of 16 days and I highly recommend you do the same, before I don't think there was any chance of staying pregnant now I just think it is a matter of time like everybody else. Best of luck hun :dust:

Hi.
If your doctor is saying that you just need to give it time, I would go see someone else.
You've been trying for 2 years, there is obviously a problem.

I would try another doctor or an RE.

Good luck.

Thanks for all your responses :flower: Ive done lots of reading on the vitamin side of things and even started taking them about 8 months ago but stopped a couple of months later..... from what I can remember it did stop the spotting throughout the month but didnt do much else - the more I read up on it the more I became confused people were saying to only take them up to a certain point during the cycle etc and I didnt know whether I was doing more harm than good so havent taken anything apart from folic acid since!!

I dont think my progesterone levels are right so Im going to take a trip back to the doctors after xmas and this time Im going to be more adamant and not fobbed off......Im also concerned that the scar tissue following the c-section may be causing problems? - anyone else experienced this??......Im nearly 30 so I know that time is on my side but my DD is nearly 5 and the growing age gap wasnt the plan but when it comes to having babies I guess you can throw all plans out of the window ha ha!!

:dust: to all those TTC

Hi - just to update you all I went back to the doctors today talked through all my symptoms and he said that he would refer me for a scan etc so we can see whats happening in there!! just have to wait for the hospital appointment to come through now.............feeling a little apprehensive about it all but at least ill know and can deal with what ever it is if anything!! :-)

I only have 26 day cycles....so it can be normal for some ladies to have shorter ones....but I do have a regular LP an its normally 14 days hopefully you get some answers soon lots of :dust: to you darling and hoping everything they find is normal :)
