Hi I'm 33 and my wife is 30. We have been trying to conceive for three months now. We both take pregnancy vitamins and use a sperm-friendly lubricant.

Before we started trying, we had full blood check-ups at the doctor and everything came back clear. But we are starting to feel frustrated and disappointed because it's hard for us to conceive. I am starting to worry about my own fertility since most of the people I've spoken to seem to fall pregnant within a month or two of trying.

We are trying on average once every 2-3 days with no luck. I've tried to track her cycle using an app but we still haven't conceived. Should I get my sperm analysed by the doctor to make sure nothing is wrong?

Also, occasionally I struggle to perform and have off days that are embarrassing for me where I can't keep going or fail to finish. My wife is starting to get upset and keeps asking if I have a fertility problem and talking about how the days I cannot perform are probably the days that she is fertile.

Are there any specific fertility tests that she could also take?

We tried using ovulation kits to track the fertile days but they weren't showing any results during the first and second months. Not sure if they were inaccurate? She still has regular periods but I've read online it is possible to not be ovulating but still getting them.

Next week I'm planning on seeing a GP to discuss getting a sample sent off to test my sperm.

Lifestyle wise, I have a sedentary job involving sitting at a desk. It's shift work and I've just finished a 7-day night shift rotation. I started to attend the gym but haven't had much time with the amount of university study I do on top of my full time work. Uni finishes soon and I plan to go back to the gym (I hired a personal trainer a couple of weeks ago to develop a fitness plan). I'm weighing 100kg right now which is the heaviest I have ever been. Naturally that also concerns me as a possible factor affecting fertility?

My wife has a high stress job working in real estate. Again, not sure if that could also be a factor in influencing TTC.

I'd appreciate any feedback or advice from others who have been through the process of TTC.

Stress is a major factor in TTC. My husband and I are 32 and I'm scheduled to have a diagnostic laproscopic surgery to check for endometriosis. After thare my husband will get his sperm checked. Depression also plays a big role in the ability to perform. You're going the right direction by seeing your Dr. Aso far as accuracy with the ovulation kit she needs to make sure she holds her pee for at least 3-4 hours with little to no fluids in between. She can also try taking her basal body temp every morning before she gets out of bed to confirm ovulation with a temp dip followed by a sharp temp rise. As far as for you exercise is real good in increasing sperm count and is very beneficial for her too. Both need to cut down on caffeine and smoking( if you drink caffeine or smoke). But all in all stress and depression delay things more than ever. Try things like meditation and yoga to help yourself relax. It's easier said than done that's for sure. Keep your chin up and don't lose hope. :)
