Hello. DH and I have been blessed with a 2-year old child (conceived naturally first month we tried) and have been trying to conceive a second child for 6 months now. I read Taking Charge of your Fertility and noticed that my luteal phase was on the shorter side. Doctor ordered labs - everything came back normal except that I have a pretty bad Vitamin D deficiency. Been taking B complex vitamins, prenatals, and a vitamin D supplement the past month.

My questions for the knowledgeable ladies in this forum:
1.) We will keep trying, but not sure what the next steps are? At what point should my husband get tested?
2.) I have been using ovulation predictors, but they show that I have a LH surge for 4 days. Is that normal?
3.) My CM is stretchy about 3 days before I ovulate. Basically I'm pretty dry on those LH surge days. We used preseed last month, but I don't understand why the disconnect. Should I go by the CM or the ovulation kit?
4.) Most importantly, about two months ago I knew we had conceived. I had implantation bleeding, my breasts were sore/tingling...but I got my period a few days later. Wondering if my issue is that I'm lacking some hormone in that luteal phase where there isn't enough time for implantation to happen or if it does happen, my body isn't able to keep the pregnancy.

We truly our blessed to have a child and I know 6 months is nothing in the grand scheme of things, but I want to make sure 6 months doesn't turn into a year and I still have no answers. Would appreciate any help/tips. Thank you in advance!

Are you in aus?

It was only 6 months of trying with DS that i managed to get into a soecialist and have a series of tests done such as blue dye etc.
If you have any concerns head to your GP and dont take no for an anseer for a refferal. best of luck!!

1. Depending on your age, that could be now. Generally the recommendation is >= 35 get tested after 6 months. If you're younger, you can probably still get tested if you're anxious.
2. It's a bit long but I don't think it matters.
3. Both are prone to inaccuracy. Your best bet would be to temp in order to confirm which day you O. You can also assume since one or the other is accurate, you will just BD for both.
4. It's not unusual for a fetus with DNA errors to spontaneously abort within the first week or two. You likely had a chemical or misinterpreted your body. Chemicals or early miscarriage are not really anything to worry about unless you have several in a row.

From the perspective of your LP and hormones, it needs to be long enough and you need to produce enough progesterone in order to establish a pregnancy. You're normal if it's longer than 10 or 11 days.
