i have been enjoying feeding but everyone around me are making me feel really uncomfortable about it has anyone gone from breast to formula? did it make much difference to their babys behaviour eg did they seem more satisfied happier etc? did they go the four hours in between feeds or did it take tine to adjust?

I'm in the middle of transitioning from breast to bottle - so far I have replaced 4 feeds. My advice is to switch if you feel it is best for you and your baby - don't let anyone else's negative opinions sway you!

Emma does sleep a lot longer at night now. I give her a bottle at 10ish and she lasts until about 4am. When I used to breastfeed her at 10 she'd only last until 1 or 2am. The only other difference I've noticed is that her poo is smellier!

She seems very content and does last longer between feeds - more like 3 1/2 hours instead of 2 1/2 to 3. I've no regrets :)

I just wanted to say sorry people are making you feel uncomfortable with breastfeeding... :( I have never switched over with either kids... Jake was formula and Kayleigh is breast milk but my only advice is do what you think is best for baby and you :) Don't let other people make your choice... Good luck!! :D

:hugs: Don't let anyone else's negative opinion make you feel like you need to switch!

Claire wasn't ever satisfied off of BM, the first time I saw her content after a feed was after her first bottle of formula. That is just us though! I can't say for certain as we only BF for 3 weeks or so.

What are people doing/saying to make you feel uncomfortable?

just that they think im feeding her all time which it does feel like you are but its perfectly normal especially with growth spurts and my oh mum came over sat night and wanted to hold her i was in middle of feed then she was going on about how she wouldnt settle i just thought you wouldnt either if you were taken away from your dinner idont think they can get their heads round the difference as they always bottle fed every four hours she does seem content though just really hungry in the evenings she is still only four weeks though its like they think she should of read a manual in my womb or something lol

:hugs: Those are awful things to say! So sorry hun!

Generally FF babies are sustained longer than BF babies. BF babes are 2-3 hours average, FF around 4? I think?

Seems like its selfish on her part. Like she wanted to hold your LO and was annoyed because you were feeding her. I'd ignore them hun! If you're wanting to BF then do so! There may be some ladies in the BF section who have good strategies on how to deal with the negative comments.

If you do switch all of us will be here for support, but is it something that you're wanting to do or are you feeling like you're being "told" to?

^what Tiff said. You shouldn't feel you have to switch because of pressure from your family :hugs:

i know tell me about it does no one support breast feeding these days they are brilliant on the breast feeding forum just hard when family arent supportive my oh has been good so might just get him to tell them off and carry on as i am for now thanks anyway people x x

Sounds like what I had to put up with when I was BFing. I think it's down to the fact that when my mum and MIL had babies, they weren't given information about BFing and didn't have the internet to research like we do! I used to cope with it by 'joking' with my mum. I'd tell her that the human race got on just fine before formula was invented! She would constantly say to me, my sister, and anyone that would listen 'how do you know she's getting enough milk?'. It used to drive me round the bend.
