Hi,

This is my first time posting. We've been trying to have a baby for 4 years now. I'm 28 and he's 34 yr old. Had a miscarriage 2 years ago and they couldn't tell what was wrong. Before moving to Sheffield, we tried everything from clumid, injections, and so on till my husband's results showed that he needed a surgery cuz he had a blockage and went on taking zinc and vitamins for 3 months after he did the surgery. Later on they told us that our only option was to go through an IVF. But then we moved to Sheffield and the GP told us that they will not relay on our tests and we had to do them again.

I redid my test within 2 weeks but my husband didn't. They always tell us that we will receive his appointment via post but nothing is ever there. Called them almost 6 times & each time they tell us to wait another week or so. This was on March 15 so it's almost a month and a half just to get an appointment to do a test! Not treatment not to be referred and not to start the IVF.

Does it usually take that long! I'm really feeling down and I miss being pregnant. What do you suggest we should do?

Hi! I just got a fertility referral, two weeks ago. When I called the clinic they wouldn't make an appt until I'd filled out all the paperwork and had my lab records transferred, and told me they were currently scheduling in JULY. I was crushed. Then there was a big hassle getting the paperwork to fill out. but once i did, they had all kinds of appts! I have my first appt this week.

So, For some reason they felt the need to cool me off a little before making the appt. Do you think they get people who schedule in a rush and then drop out just as quickly?

I know we are not talking about exactly the same thing. But hugs anyway. Here's hoping that ypur experience is similar and you get in soon. :)

Hi Aisha, I feel your pain.

You mention that you have just moved to Sheffield, do you know what your local NHS guidelines are for IVF?

The only reason I ask is that we were told 18 months ago that we needed IVF, but in our area it isn't available until 30, so we have to wait another 18 months until we can go ahead.

They did all the tests to rule everything out first, but we were still told we has to wait.
