Hi Everyone!

Just a quick post - Is anyone trying to lose weight for IVF. If so please share your ideas/meals/diets etc. So I can take tips. I need to lose some good weight which is a mission. I need to lose 6 kg in 3 weeks.

I just decided yesterday I would start loosing weight so when this iui and my next iui don't work I will be ready to move one. However I need to loose more than you do. I woudl love any tips as well. I have insulin resistant pcos so it is really hard for me. My sis is having good success with sticking to a meal plan from her physical trainer. I am trying to get her to email it to me. She doesn't have any medicle issues getting in her way, but she lost 11 lbs in 2 weeks.

Hi Karenh,

I need to lose a lot of weight. Before I needed to lose 6kg in order to be put done for IVF. lol Iv got a long way to go and its an absolute mission!

Anyways I thought Il share some ideas - Iv been having low carb meals and food high in fibre.

My breakfast is usually weetabix with sweetex (To give a little sweetness) along with fruits thereafter green tea.
My lunch would be brown bread with chicken (Sometimes grilled and sometimes with teeny weeny oil) with lots of salad.
My Dinner would be cereal and green tea or sometimes I would have 1/2 fish cake with half boiled vegtables.
- In between the day i try to have fruits

This is helping me so far and also I try to do 1-2 hours of exercise a day.

Let me know how things are going for you.

I don't know what 6kg transfers into lbs but I need to lose 100 lbs. I am not sure if it can be less for IVF but to be healthy and normal that is what it is. Also I am not sure what you are having for breakfast. Lol, British to American can be so different some times. I really appreciate the advice though! Thank you! I bought a bunch of vegetables last night so I am going to try and fill up on those with some chicken for dinner. My problem is I LOVE potatoes, and I know they REALLY don't work with my insulin resistance. I would love some support! Let's keep each other updated!

I wish you the best Karenh! Dont worry I know you can do it! I too love potatoes but nope they are not good for me (I have PCOS).

Weetabix is a cereal high in fibre. Have food which is high in fibre. I will update you. Let me know how your chicken and vegtable meal goes.

I have PCOS too. My sis invited me over to play monopoly and I stayed through dinner. She made chicken and potatoes no veggie : ( Oh well, tomorrow.

Hi ladies
Im in a similar situation. Im on the waiting list for IVF on the NHS in the UK. This will be my only chance at a free treatment cycle as I am nearly 40 & you only get one go where I live. In my area they have a cutoff of 35bmi & wont treat if you are higher. However they are about to bring this down to 30, but I dont know when, yikes. My bmi hovers around the 30 mark so I want to lose a bit in case that new threshold comes in before we get our treatment. Im 5ft 5" and 13 stone, I should really be about 10-11 stone but right now my goal is 12 stone. I'd like to lose 14 lbs and if I could lose 7-8 before Christmas that would be great. That's only a lb a week, which in theory is doable. I lost a st at the start of the yr my watching what I ate & walking a good bit (+ some wii fit & exercise bike). The main thing that helped keep me on track was the My Fitness Pal ph ap. Is anyone on that? I have to say I found it really useful. Im into losing weight without the cost of a gym or weight watchers or similar & eating food rather than shakes. Im also a vegetarian. Breakfast will be porridge or fruit. I eat quite a bit of lentils, chickpeas, nuts etc. Im currently seeing a Chinese dr and he wants me to eat only warm / hot foods. I drink a lot of hot water & a little green tea.

Good luck every1!

Lets us getting healthy will help us get that bfp!

Hi!

In January I decided it would be a good idea to lose weight if I needed IVF. In April 2012 my local hospital changed the criteria from a BMI up to 35 to 30 and mine was around 32. I figured why just lose weight to get my BMI down for IVF, why not get it down to a healthy number? I have dropped a dress size and got down to 26-27 BMI with My Fitness Pal site and phone app but I started struggling as there was no one to keep me accountable. At the beginning of October I joined Slimming World and in the first two weeks I lost 4.5lbs but in the following two weeks I gained 2.5lbs but I was on holiday and don't regret it.

I know many people who have had success with Slimming World it's starting to launch in America at the moment. On the plan you can eat as much meat/fish/pasta/rice/fruit/vegetables as you like, it's all about food optimising. I find it much easier than counting points or calories.

I also walk my puppy every day for an hour and it's never an easy walk, she's VERY strong.

Good luck.

Hi and thanks.

The injectables are for Ovulation Induction. I'm on them for six months and if they don't work I will then be placed on the waiting list for IVF.

Hi threebirds,

I am in the similar boat as you. My BMI waves around 30 too! I am also on waiting list for IVF by NHS UK. The first time is free so I really want this to work. Sometimes its just so hard to lose weight, I eat good food, low carb and exercise but the line on the weighing scale just does not go down. It makes me feel so sad and sometimes I feel so emotional that I feel like giving up.. but I wont. I have to sacrifise if I want a baby which I really badly do :-(

I also use My Fitness Pal on phone app, which is great! I want to start having fish cake with half boiled vegetables again (That really helped in weight loss). If anyone has any tips then please share.

Threebirds,

Yes I will join you in losing lb a week for 7 weeks. (But I think I should be losing more) lol

Hi threebirds,

I have MFP on phone but Im not registered on the forum thing, I have just registered now but Im not too sure how to add someone, I think I need the email add unless theres another way.

I have my follow up appointment very very soon and my BMI is 29.5. I am losing weight so slow even though Im doing exercise, good eating everything! Its so fustraiting. Anyone that is in similar situation - How does it feel? Do you get stressed and angry with peopl? How do you resolve this? I feel like being alone, its so horrible. I hate this weight issue. I have PCOS and that makes it extra hard to lose weight. I dont eat no junk food.

Hi Yearningheart

What is your MFP user name & I'll send u a fruend request, u dont need to get into the forum bit to see how friends are doing. What foods are you eating? Im really sorry about the PCOS that must make losing weight all the harder. I try to have porridge for breakfast, homemade veggie soup for lunch & dinner varies. Can you eat lots of soup & no bread between now & your appointment? Good to hear you are at 29.5, I know its frustrating but thats really good :hugs:
