Trying to put baby down in pack n play

My DD is now 4 weeks old. She is a pretty good napper, until I try to put her down in her pack n play. For the first 3 weeks we would make a little nest in the corner of our sectional couch where we could put her down to sleep during the day when we are in the room with her. Obviously this is not the safest place for her to sleep, especially once she learns to roll, so we set the pack n play up in the living room. We can lay her down on the couch and she will nap there happily for 2-3 hours, but if I try to lay her down in the pack n play she will wake up crying 5 minutes later. Any ideas on how I can get her used to sleeping in the pack n play instead of on the couch?

I should also add that we are going on vacation in February and taking the pack n play for DD to sleep in while we are gone, so we really need her to be able to sleep in the pack n play!

I have the same question! My (almost) 4 week old can sleep for ages in his couch nest but wakes up as soon as he's near the pack n play... I'm watching for advice with you :)

Is there a way that you can mimic the couch? Same blanket arrangement etc? I find practice is what it takes. Our little guy sleeps no problem in the playpen, but we have to practice with the bassinet otherwise he won't go to sleep there.

Have you got a squishy blanket spare? Try putting a little duvet or soft blanket and putting a sheet tight over (so that its taught and safe). Often the base of travel cots and pack n plays aren't that comfortable so babies don't like them much. I found making it padded meant my daughter slept in hers much better. X

I had this problem with my daughter but with putting her in her cot at bedtime she hated it but once I put a thicker blanket down and a pillow in she started sleeping in it and for longer periods of time so maybe make a nest in the pack and play with a thicker blanket making it more comfy

We had this problem, too. We tried everything, but we couldn't keep them happy in it until they got to 6 months.
