Hi,

My baby boy is 8 weeks old... He was ebf for a week but my milk took 5 days to come in and his latch wasnt great so I ended up in pain from bleeding/cracked nipples :( the hospital just gave us formula when I said I couldnt physically feed him I was in so much pain. Since then he has gradually shown preference for the bottle over breast resulting in my milk supply dwindling and now he never has a full feed off me and rarely wants to latch on.

I know formula is brilliant and he is thriving but I personally am a very pro-breastfeeding person and am desperate to get back to it.

Does anyone have any reccomendations of bottles that are more 'breast-like'? Ive tried tommee tippee ones but he ended up too windy with them... Ive heard good things about NUK, would you reccomend them? He just needs to get used to a slower flow of milk and realise he has to work for his food rather than just have a nice easy meal like he gets now.

Thanks in advance.

Also just to add I am working with a BF support person at getting him latched on already, I just need something to make the transition from bottle to breast less dramatic.

I found that the breastflow bottles were best for me. My little boy is four months and I have just recently swapped to the bottles as I'm going back to work sadly. I loved breast feeding but these bottles are fab.

Hope this helps x

I wouldn't recommend Nuk personally if you are trying to transition. I stopped BFing when LO was 2 weeks old and we used Nuk bottles and then I attempted to relactate and feed him again and he had terrible nipple confusion, would not latch at all. We swapped back to TT bottles and after a week of using those, he would go on the breast.

I love Nuk but we are now full time FF and I wouldn't suggest them if you are aiming to EBF. :flower:

I recommend the medela calma teats. I combifeed and they are the only teats my son is happy with. He finds the flow too fast in other brands. The calma allows him to be in control of the flow as he has to stimulate the teat with his tongue like at the breast in order for a valve to open and the milk to flow. The only downside is that they are quite expensive. Worth every penny for us though! You could try one and if baby likes it buy a spare. I manage fine with just two.

I combi fed for 4 weeks before transitioning to FF, my HV recommended NUK bottles and we had no nipple confusion or issues with latching.
