Hey all,

I'm actually BF but hope you don't mind me popping over here to ask about my steriliser...we got given it so it came with no instructions & cant get hold of the girl who gave it to me!

So my questions are:

How much water do you put in the bottom of the steriliser?
How long do you put it in the microwave for?

Also, I know you can use it as a cold water steriliser? Anyone know what happens there?

Thank you :flower:

hello,

i have one of these sterilisers and its 200 mls of water. My microwave is 850 watt power so i have to sterilise for 6 minutes. Its 4 minutes if your microwave is a higher power than this.

not sure about the cold water thing as i have never done this.

If you look on the square bit of the lid, it gives the times for different ratings of microwaves. The instructions also say you've to leave it to stand for 3 minutes after the microwave stops. Items remain sterile for 3 hours if left unopened.

For cold sterilisation, follow the instructions on the box/bottle of fluid you choose.

Wash the steriliser in hot soapy water regularly. Wash all items before they go in it. Obviously, don't put anything metal in it.

That should be all you need.

I've never used mine in the microwave, just as cold water...
I fill it up with cold water up to the line... and put in the required amount of tablets, leave to dissolve then put in the washed and rinsed bottles/teats etc.
You have to leave the bottles in there for either 15/30mins depending on what tablets you use, but then you can just take the stuff out when required, and jsut replace the solution every 24hrs. Easy Peasy.

I used to use mine in the microwave but it is sooooo much easier doing it with cold water. There is a line about and inch and a half from the top, which is the 5litre line. I fill it to here then pop a measured dose of milton in. Bottles sterile in 15 mins and they stay in there sterilised till i'm ready for them :)

I have this steriliser and used it as cold water, but I found if I left the teats or dummies in for too long then they went from see-through to off white. Not that this is a problem I just didn't like the look lol

They also turn white if you leave them in water too long.

I do this too, we used to use Tesco tablets that too 30mins but they stopped stocking them at our local store and so we switched to Milton that take only 15mins, plus you don't have to rinse the solution off the bottles either (I noticed you do with some tablets like ASDA own). It's soooo easy!
