Good morning ladies,

Have always been a browser never a poster but today I decided to partake in this positive conversations.

Me 36
DH 44
I have no children, DH have 2
All test done show no issues, yet here we are unable to get this right

Clomid 3 cycles and nothing, but all it did was mess up my cycles and made me gain weight, has anyone else experienced this? DR prescribed another 5 cycles I'm not sure if I should just bite the bullet and take it. I could never use birth control, same thing, messed up cycles like you will not believe, apparently my mother had the same issues, but after 2 years of trying she had her first and them 4 more after that.... So in short, was not on birth control for years before deciding to try and conceive, but still unable to conceive

My cycles are irregular as is, DR said no hormone imbalance, blood work looks good, they average from CD 25 - CD31, then if hormones are okay why the up and down with cycles?

This month again it is CD25, had unexpected spotting yesterday afternoon, thought it was AF surprising me, but nothing after that, this morning there was only light brown spotting again but still no AF, other then pregnancy what else can this be?

I'd say if you've already done 3 cycles of Clomid, it may be time to try something else. Maybe Femara? Or move on to IUI?

Spotting doesn't only happen during pregnancy. Found an article (https://beyondfertility.com/reasons-for-spotting/) where the following reasons are stated (I only included the non-pregnancy and non-STD related ones):

The timing of spotting is important also. Below are suggestions of possibilities but the list is not exhaustive:

Spotting before a period is due – reasons for spotting before a period can be implantation, from a cyst or a short luteal phase and impaired egg quality.

Spotting in between cycles – this is a difficult term to answer but often means your cycles are growing shorter; often with perimenopause.

Spotting while on birth control pills or depo-provera – this is also called breakthrough bleeding. Often times the shot is wearing off or the pill’s dose is low. Let me say that upping your dose is not a healthy choice; just as the pill is not a healthy choice.

Spotting after ovulation – could be a cyst that has ruptured (usually a good thing) or implantation. Knowing your body best will help you decide which it could be at this point. Read about taking temperatures in Charting Your Fertility. This is helpful to being able to track possible pregnancy. The Fertility Tracker is also exceptional for this as it can spot implantation as well as fertility signs.

I know you've said you've been trying clomid, but do you know whether its causing you to O? Does your doctor do ultrasounds to see if you have any dominant follicles? That's something you might consider asking for to ensure you're actually ovulating.

Good Morning Kat079 and Greenarcher,

Kat079, thank you for the info, was very helpful, it so happens it is my AF showing up early this month. I will see if the chemist will swop out the clomid for femara, although I doubt it.

Greenarcher, no..... the first time my Dr prescribed this was after all test were done to see if there is any issues, the 21 day blood test was done to see whether I ovulated and it showed I did, but because we've been trying for so long he suggested we try clomid, no follow up ultrasound or anything after.

As mentioned, my cycles are all over the place, or that is how it feels to me at times but while on clomid not one of the OPK test were positive, and I started testing on day 12. I try not to get worked up or stressed about this, but I always have this fear in the back of my head this will not happen for me. But this month was my second month off clomid and it was a positive opk ...

You got a positive OPK? When was that?

You should ask for ultrasound and see if your follicles are progressing.

Hi Greenarcher,

The positive OPK was off the clomid this month, we did the BD, but no success this month. I'm considering not taking the clomid this month and try one more month without.

If you don't think you're having problems ovulating, then I'd agree, ditch the clomid. May be throwing things out of wack for you.

Hello! Are going to a fertility specialist or seeing an OBGYN. If you are seeing an OB it may be time to switch to a fertility clinic. Also, is your doc increasing your Clomid dose or keeping you on the same dosage? You could try Femera which works for some women who don't ovulate with Clomid, although I don't know if Fermera is available in your country. A couple other things...have you had an HSG to see if your tubes are blocked? What about a diagnostic ultrasound? You may also want to have your ovarian reserve checked by doing a day 3 FSH check. At this point to deserve to get progressive treatment.

I also suggest becoming active on the forum, reading through posts and contributing. You will learn a lot! There is also Forum for Long Term Trying to Conceive, you may want to check that out.

Weird, I'm taking Clomid and it actually regulates me, as far as weight gain that hasnt happened to me, only headaches. Hey but if gaining 5-10 is gonna get me my nany boy i'm ready !! talk to your doctor he/she only one who can really help you.

I've been on clomid 8 cycles .
