Hi,

Just looking for others out there who already have a child/children are TTC but experiencing recurrent miscarriages.

In Jan 2011 I had my son, then in Jan 2012 we start TTC for #2. Since then I have had 3 miscarriages. One at 11+5, one at 15+4 and the most recent being a chemical pregnancy in December 2012.

Since my 2nd tri miscarriage I've had lots of tests done and they're still being done! I am on blood pressure medication, baby aspirin, high dose folate, fish oil, calcium and vitamin D.

My FS wants me to have an appointment with a hematologist to see if I need injectable blood thinners and possibly steroids.

Anyone else out there in a similar situation?

sorry for what you have been through, i too have had three miscarriages - all last year at 5/6 weeks. My ds was born in 2009. I have had loads of tests, nothing has come up and i have been advised to take steroids with ivf. I am having a test for nk cells this month as well, this will give me a better indication as to whether i need steriods - because there are lots of risks involved when taking them if you dont need them. I asked my fs how many times you could take them and he said that once was too many for him, even though it was his idea!!!

I got the results back from the NK test and all normal - so I won't be getting steroids for that.

One thing that's come up as moderately high (Hematologists words) is ANA levels (Anti nuclear antibodies) so he's running some more tests to see if I have any bad antibodies

My fs has prescribed the steriods without having the nk test, I am going to have the nk test with the NHS fs, he has treated lots of women with recurrent miscarriages with the steriods without having that test?might be worth asking?x

Yeah, I'm going to wait and see what he recommends and then ask for them and blood thinners if he doesn't offer them.

He hasn't ruled out steroids, just that I don't need them for NK cells in particluar. He did tell me about another patient who had high ANA levels and he gave her steroid for that so I'm still hopeful.

I'm ttc no 2 and have had 2 miscarraiges, not sure if thats classed as recurrent miscarraiges? in my eyes it is, in the nhs's eyes its not. I'd love to join?

Hi GreenerGrass, sorry to hear about your losses.

I only had 2 losses when I started going to the RMC. They have the same rule about having to have 3, but because one of my losses was a 2nd tri they waved that rule. They actually dismissed the chemical I had also.

Anyway I got 2nd opinion through a private fertility specialist and she was the one that put me on the hematologist. She counts all 3 losses.

Hopefully you'll never have to go through it again x

greener my pct now counts 2 as recurrent and will refer you, ask your gp x

I asked at EPA when I had the news and they said 3. I will ask again when I see my dr
