Hey ladies

I love my girls over in irregular cycle sisters but was wondering if any of you out there are TTCing #2 with irregular cycles.

A bit about me:
I'm Chele, 30 and married for just over 2 years. I have PCOS and irregular cycles - 30-113 days.

I fell pregnant with my LO luckily with no intervention after 10 months, my 7th cycle.

Unfortunately pregnancy didn't reset my system and the wonky cycles are still here - so far around 40 days each, but this one is CD34 and I've still not ovulated - in fact I don't ovulate each cycle anyway.

So would love to chat with anyone who is struggling with their cycles while trying to conceive #2 (or 3 or 4 even)

xx

Hi Chele,

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm almost 27 and have had PCOS for years but only got an official diagnosis 3 years ago. I used to go between 40 and 120 days without a period but my gp wouldn't help when we started TTC 2 and a half years ago so went down the herbal route. I took agnus castus, EPO and vit b6 and literally within 2 weeks I got my period and then each cycle after that was dead on 35 days! We managed to conceive on cycle 4 and Sam was born Oct 09.

Since Sam was born I've only had 2 periods, 70 days apart. We got pregnant after my 2nd period (I ov'd on cd 36) but unfortuantely ended in mc. That was on 17th Nov and I'm still waiting to ov! I think I'm on cd 55!! I'm going to make an app to see my doctor this week and see if he will help me this time.

So yeah, that's a bit about me!! x

I'm 27, PCOS went fron 80-120 cycle, got on metformin andstarted 30 day to 40 day cycles with no ovulation.
Ttc#2, my first child is 10, conceived on accident.
Current methods we are using is weight loss, healthy diet, and I just starting taking my metformin again.

Hello ladies!!!

Sambles - I went yesterday to the dr fully expecting them to tell me to bog off, instead we're doing all the blood work, semen specimens etc to get a referral for, hopefully, some clomid.

Pinkee- how long you been TTCing #2?

That's brilliant Chele. So in order to get clomid do you have to be refered to a specialist? I've got no idea but have heard a couple of people on here say that their gp prescibed it to them? My doctor isn't in this week so I'm going to get an appointment for next week instead. I just want to have regular cycles that aren't 80 days long!

Pinkee - are you getting any side effects from the metformin?

Off and on for 5 years, sstarted off not preventing thenDH got diagnosed with testicular cancer, put us on hold for 2 of those years and so we reallly just got serious about 5-6 months ago, tracking cycles.
This month I started a diet and exercise, metformin, and also I forgot to mention using the clear blue fertility monitor starting this month too.

Sorry to hear about DH, that must have been very tough for you :hugs:

I've got a CBFM and used it when TTC DS but I can't use it now because my cycles are too long so it never gives me a peak :growlmad: I think they are great though, really helpful

Are you UK? if so I think it's standard but I've also heard of people getting it from their GP, but no unfortunately in Sheffield you need to be referred to the hospital to have tests done and then prescribed Clomid.

Me too. It's also got me thinking what I want to do after having another baby as I just don't want stupid cycles until the menopause. Not sure what options I have. I don't want to go on BC afterwards (which always regulated me) cause DH will get the snip and I don't want to put chemicals into my body if I don't need to.

OMG so sorry to hear about your DH Pinkee. Is he in the clear now.

I never bothered with a CBFM as I knew it just wouldn't work for me, but I buy bulk OPKs off Amazon and test when I think I might be ovulating as I do get bad ovulation pains

Do you find OPKs work for you Chele? I used them when conceiving Sam (alongside CBFM) but I've found that since I had him I keep getting really weird results. I get near-positive results throughout most of my cycle so it's really hard to see if they are truly +ve or not. I know it's because of the PCOS but it's sooo annoying.

Did your gp say how long you would have to wait for your referal?

Yup all clear for DH, and they said the likelyhood for it to come back is less than 3%. We are so happy to put that behind us.

I'm really hoping my pcos doesn't foul up the cbfm, I heard some women w pcos it really did the trick.

Yes the OPKs seem to work for me. Throughout my cycles though I can get near positives and then nothing at all. But a positive for me can happen and it def goes a lot darker. Yeah it's the PCOS playing havoc as usual

I took soy this cycle and I am hoping it's worked as, this is todays!!!!!!!

The longest part of the referral process is apparently getting DH's semen analysis done. So he's going to the dr next week to get his referral appt to do the speciment, but hopefully in about 8 weeks we should know when our appointment will be.

How much does the CBFM cost to use?
My OPKs are dirrrrrrt cheap, I love them

So happy for you that DH is clear. Phew!
xx

That OPK definitely looks good Chele  I think I'm going to take soy next cycle whenever af decides to appear. What days did you take it on and how much did you take?

That's a Pos OPK!

Cbfm is expensive, its $40 a month for the sticks and I got the monitor used, without directions for $80.
But the cbfm measures estrogen and luteinizing hormone so I find that useful. So far all low days. I'm hoping around CD20 I peak. Where did you get your test strips?

DITTO!
I'd love to know bwhat days you took it on!

I took 120mg CD2-6. I know CD37 is late to ovulate but it does appear to be happening. Got another pos OPK this morning which looks stronger than yesterdays imo. My temp is it's lowest so hoping it goes up tomorrow. :sex: last night and again this morning and will do again tonight.

Wow CBFM is mega expensive then. I get my OPKs off amazon but from a UK company as I am UK. Something like $11 for 30.

I'm definitely thinking of giving soy a go but going to see what the doctor says next week first. Where did you buy the soy from?

Yeah the sticks for my cbfm cost £20 a month but you can get them slightly cheaper from Amazon. That's another reason why I want my cycles to sort themselves out, so I can use it again because it was brilliant even though it's expensive. I'm using OPKs at the moment but I'm basically getting near positive results all the time which is annoying.

Do you find temping really helps? I don't do it but thinking of starting.

Temping was great before I had Max. But since I've started temping this time I am wondering whether to carry on. Basically because I don't always get 5 straight hours sleep (thanks so diet related insomnia) and also cause I don't take it the same time every day, as it's just not possible with a 9 month old.

So in short I think temping is fab for those who don't have a baby already or for those who have one who sleeps through every single night enabling you to take your temp the same time each day.

I got my soy from Tesco (40mg per capsule, take 3 a day cd2-6)
I'll def take it next cycle.

Hmm I don't think temping is for me then because Sam is very hit and miss with his sleep. Sometimes he wakes 3 or 4 times and other times he will wake once. Also sometimes he will wake up for the day at 5.30 and sometimes not til 7.15! Thanks for the info though

So are you in the 2ww now?
