TTC 26 months is it worth getting seen by a doctor?

I have a complicated story, I havent posted on BnB for a while but thought I would get advice from other LTTCers.

Basically we started trying in Oct 2010. I fell pregnant after 10 months in August 2011 but miscarried at 19 1/2 weeks last November. I then fell pregnant again in May and it was discovered the pregnancy was ectopic at 9 weeks. I have my tube removed and was very lucky nothing more serious happened to me.

I guess you could argue I have been pregnant twice in the time since starting to try in October 2010. I am sick of all this waiting. I am not sure if the doctor will say "well you can get pregnant" and just send me away or whether because we have been trying for so long they will run any tests to make sure everything is ok.

Just thought I would get opinions - I dont want to waste anyones time, but all the same I dont want to waste anymore time TTC without any success. Having the two losses has had such a huge impact on me that I just want a baby even more than ever.

Any advice will be greatly received xx

First just want to say sorry for your losses. Can't imagine how awful it must feel to have such a late miscarriage as well.

But answering your question, yes I'd definitely go and get checked out - also might be an idea to get your OH checked out as I know miscarriages can sometimes be to do with poor quality sperm.

I started TTC back in August 2008, fell pregnant in the October but had a MMC in December. We then started trying again but after 7 months, I just decided to go to the doctors as it had been a year since we had first started trying. Wasn't sure if they would help me that soon but they did. She said that if you have got your timings right (which I had - every month without fail we tried at the right time) and it hasn't happened within 6-7 months, she'll refer you for blood tests.

And then I fell pregnant again in December 2009 only to miscarry pretty much straight away - my period ended up being something like a week late.

So definitely get checked out. I hope you get some answers xxx

i agree with susan_1981. Go back to the dr and ask for tests. It will oput your mind at rest if they come back normal and if there is a problem at all then they can start ont he next step of your treatment sooner rather than later.

Good luck

I agree. It is definitely worth going to the doctor. My husband and I were trying for a year and a half (with no success). After getting some testing done we realized that I had low progesterone which was causing my cycles to be super long (they were often 50-60 days and I would bleed for 3-4 weeks straight). After using Provera (progesterone) I started having more regular cycles. I had an HSG (which was good), I had other blood testing done. They then started testing to see if I had ovulated. The first month they checked it didn't seem I had. They then suggested clomid (50mg) and follicle tracking. While doing the tracking we again noticed that I did not seem to be ovulating on my own. I was given a HCG trigger shot which forced ovulation. That month (my first month on clomid) I got a bfp. Unfortunately I had a mmc. As devastating as that was I at least now know that I can get pregnant. I am hopeful that it will work again for us. If I had waited and tried to do it on my own I might have never gotten a bfp or it might have taken me a really really long time.

I think information is powerful. Testing that shows things are normal is as important as finding a problem. I think there is nothing to lose in getting things checked, and there is plenty to gain. Don't feel that you would be wasting the time of the doctors. The fact that you have gotten pregnant on your own does not mean that there are not things that could help you. You have waited a long time for your rainbow baby and you deserve any help out there to make it come sooner!! I am so sorry for your losses and I hope you get your bfp soon!! :hugs:

Oh thank you so much for your responses. I think I will make an appointment and try and convince hubby to go too. I am so sick of getting AF every month, when this should be our first Christmas with a baby.
I was worried about posting as I know I have got pregnant twice but I still dont have a baby in my arms to show for it. Thanks for your advice xx
