Hi all,

I had surgery to remove my left tube due to an ectopic just about a yr ago. I found out on july 31 i was preg then had surgery on the 16.08. It took 3 months after ectopic for af to gt back to normal they stayed regular every 28-30 days for around 3 months then everything went haywire. I get really sore before af and no 2 cycles are the same length. Longest has been 42 days! Its really upsetting as it raises ur hopes then nothing! I bit the bullet last month and spoke to doc who said he wanted to wait three months till we had been trying for a year then would make a refferal to fertility clinic. He seems to think im not ovulating some months.

Im in the uk and would like to know if anyone has experienced similar and what will happen once i am referred
?

I'm so sorry about your loss, I had an ectopic and had a tube removed, but was lucky enough to get pregnant about 4 months later

I wonder if the month that you ovulate on your non tube side you might have a different cycle? I had lots of tests done to see why I couldnt get pregnant but they were before my ectopic. Do you know if they checked your remaining tube while you were in surgery?

Hey,

Yes the consultant said it was healthy and there was a little scarring on left tube which was removed which likely caused the ectopic. I think that is the case my last cycle was 28 days which is normal. However im now cd31, i sometimes have a 32 day cycle or 36 & even a 42 so i think its clear im not ovulating as normal some months or skipping a cycle. Its really fustrating as although i suffered a mc before ive always been 28 days and when i did try to get pregnant it happened within 5 months both times i have just been unlucky.

What worries me is sometimes before my af i get really intense pain which i have never experienced. I just hv alot of worries that i wont be able to get pregnant again :(

I had pains for ages after my surgery, and lots of pains while I was pregnant, I think from all the scar tissue

That's great news that your other tube was ok though

What helped me too was acupuncture to get my cycles regular, no idea how it works, but it did

Oh and here (in Aus sorry, but I cant imagine it would be too different) normally with the fertility testing they will do a blood test to check that you are ovulating (at day 21) then if that shows you are, they often do a dye test and hysteroscopy, to check insides, and also sometimes a D&C to clean everything out, and they will normally also get your partners sperm checked too

Hi,

thanks for tht i had been looking at accupuncture but its so expensive. Im late again this month going by 28 day cycle im 5 days late or 32 day cycle il be late tomorrow. Its wierd as i seem to be 28 days, 32 or i skip a cycle and end up with 42 cycle so i think its obv a ovulation problem but i hv
Never had tht before so its obv after the surgery tht has caused the issue. I might just be taking a while to gt bk to normal. Im sure it should be an easy fix (hopefully).

Thanks for the info on the tests. The doc said he will refer me should i not be pregnant by sept x

Yeah that was the only downside to the acupuncture, the cost made it hard

Will keep everything crossed for you :)

Hi, I had a miscarriage in July 2013, and had erpc surgery to evacuate my uterus. Still trying and nothing, I went to the docs 3 months ago to start fertility testing in live in London. All they did was 3 blood tests a smear and sperm analysis for my husband. GP referred me to fertility clinic and at the appointment the doctor read my notes and said I had only been trying for 10 cycles and as I'd been pregnant before I probably would again. He said he'd see me again in September if I'm not pregnant. What he explained was I would then 2 tests, one where they put dye in your tubes and see if theres a blockage and the other some sort of scan. My sister had an ectopic and has a 16 month old and pregnant with number 2, she suffered many miscarriages in between, but she got there. Also my best friends wife had an ectopic at the time of my miscarriage and is now expecting her first in 4 days (my birthday - don't you love how cruel life can be?). If you're over 35 they should see you earlier, I would lie about how long you've been trying.

Yep life can defo be cruel! I had a miscarriage only to fall pregnant 5 months later thinking it was our rainbow only for it to be ectopic x im 25 so docs in no rush at all which i get but it can be fustrating. Sorry for your loss, its truly one thing you never think will happen. I really had no idea how common it is :(

thanks for the info on testing, i really was curious what tests they would do x hopefully i will fall pregnant before i need a referral but it helps to know what to expect.

Thanks for answering :)

Still no sign of af cd 40, this is horrid. No signs or symptoms tht af is due. Around a week ago i had lots of pain as though it was about to start but nothing. I dont understand why im getting extra long cycles now :(
