Hello!! We are TTC number 3. Our story is a little weird really, we have 2 sons who are nearly 15 and 5. We thought that was it for us and then last september we found out I was pregnant, shocked wasn't the word!! Unfortunately this ended in miscarriage at 6 weeks but my body was not prepared for pregnancy, I had been drinking a lot of caffiene, taking anti histamines and brufen and no folic acid.

My husband did not want to try for another as it had never been our plan to have a 3rd as I was 36 when I had DS no. 2. I understood but was so gutted but have accepted over the last 4 months that we would not have another.

But I am so thrilled that this month he softened towards the idea. He doesn't want to go all out but is happy to not be "safe". I am nearly 43 so it may not happen but I plan to lose these last 20lb and get myself as fit as I can. I have cut out caffeine, eating better, doing yoga and am taking pregnancy tablets so lets see how we go!!

Hi Jules-
I am so sorry about your loss...it is absolutely heartbreaking at any time.

Your story is very similar to mine. I have 4 beautiful babies and we thought we were done. So much so that my DH had his vasectomy scheduled and 2 days later we found out I was preggo! But 25 minutes after his surgery I had a scan b/c of some spotting and found out it was ectopic and had to have my right tube removed. What a day.

We are in the same boat as far as TTC, (ntnp) but obviously we are under some time-constraints with his sperm reserve! I think this is the last month for us. He will have his boys tested next week, but I'm hoping there is some little miracle growing inside right now.

I will be praying for you on your journey. We never know what we wanted until it is taken away from us! Sending you tons and tons of baby dust!

Hi ladies,
I am so sorry for your losses, but excited for your futures. So much of your stories are very similar to mine. We have one daughter who was born in 2005 when I was 29 years old after about 9 months of ttc. We decided to wait until she was in kindergarten to try for another but when we did and didn't get pregnant we stopped trying. To our surprise, we found out that we were pregnant just as she began first grade. I was 36 and relieved to know that I would still be 36 when I delivered. We only wanted two kids and in my mind we were finally done...done worrying about ttc, done worrying about the spacing of our kids, done worrying about my age. Everything was going just fine until I began having severe stomach pains only to end up in labor and delivery 6cm. dialated in mid December. Our second daughter was born the next day at 21 weeks and lived for two hours. After about a month and a half of having no information as to why this happened we were finally told that my cervix apparently opened prematurely allowing normal bacteria to enter my uterus thus causing an infection in our baby. The plan now is for me to have a cerclage and progesterone with a future pregnancy.
Like you, Jules, my husband does not want to go full force with ttc. In the past it has caused us nothing but stress and disappointment and I believe losing Zoi like we did took a lot of excitement out of the whole childbearing process, but he is willing to let things happen as it will. I do feel time running out for us. My birthday is in a few months and it is obvious that I will not be delivering at 36, so I am definitely feeling time on my heels.
Mama2four, it is very true what you said about not knowing how badly we want something until it is gone from us. Before we became pregnant I had convinced myself that it was okay that we were only going to have one child...it is not longer that way.

Yes, age can be so stressful!! But these days we are all so much "younger" than our parents were. My mum had my sister at 32 and was termed an "older" mum but these days many women haven't even thought about a family at 32. I was 36 when I had my 2nd son and enjoyed my pregnancy much more than my first when I was 28!

I look forward to keeping up to date with your stories and hopefully we'll get those BFP's!!
