Hi ladies.....any advice? When TTc newest DS we saw a nhs fertility specialist because we had been trying for over 4years...anyway we only got as far as a lap and dye op before falling pregnant naturally :happydance:

The doc said at the time that he was very surprised as I didn't seem to be ovulating consistently but was pleased.....he then made what I assumed to be an off the cuff remark " if you want more after this one, the first 12months after birth are your best chance"

LO was born at 34weeks due to prom at 27weeks and luckily only spent 11days in scbu ......now I went to visit my gp for my postnatal check and she wanted me to have the coil!! I said no I want as little interference as possible due to fertility issue (condoms aren't option as latex allergy and also hate them lol) so left with the patch.

Question is...when can we TTc again???? I assume as first DS was 36weeks with prom at 27weks, ds2 was 34weeks prom at 27weeks, that perhaps I should prepare for another early baby, my gp says if you conceive within 2years chances of another preemie rises.....but don't want my fertility to drop away again...especially as have 7.5yr gap between the boys and I'm 27 now

When would be sensible??! Financially we can start whenever, LO seems content now his milk sorted.....I honestly think I can manage two LO well :/ xxx

Edit: some of you may know recently I found out my oh had cheated on me ..... We have moved on from this and this is a hypothetical when can we rather than a we are going to!!!!

I would ask the GP to refer you to a consultant for a pre pregnancy plan and if the consultant was happy for you to try whenever you felt ready then I would say go for it.

I had a discussion with my consultant around 6 weeks after birth although this isn't the norm but as I gave birth in a hospital hundreds of miles from home and he had treated me for a month leading up to the birth I wanted his opinion on what level of care I should get next time. He never mentioned any higher risks if I decided to get pregnant sooner rather than later.

Thanks Hun....I asked my gp about referral so I could discuss timings etc....and gp said she won't refer me till least 18months after LO birth as I shouldn't get pregnant before then!!! Was bit baffled as she has no idea what happened etc...I was under hospital care from 20weeks!!! Xxx

I have heard the 18m thing, and it was my intention to go with that too, but DD2 was a surprise a year later.
