Hi All! Long time reader, first time poster here! This is my first cycle charting my bbt with fertility friend. I have tried to attach a picture of my bbt below (hope it works!) My chart does not look like the "ideal" charts I see when I look up bbt charts, so I am having trouble analyzing it myself.

My question is, how accurate is fertility friend? FF says that i ovulated on cd 17. Is that a definite or is there a possibility that I may have not ovulated yet? Does my chart look like I have ovulated?

A bit of background information:
TTC our first child.
I have irregular cycles. My past three cycles were 28days, 21days, and 90days.
I have been off of birth control for over a year.
At first my husband and I went off bc and were hoping I would just "fall pregnant". When we realized it wasn't happening so easily, I started charting my periods. A few months later I added in OPKs - they never worked for me. I have taken 90+ w CBFM and all have read High fertile. No peaks, no lows.
This month is my first temping.
My obgyn put me on metformin since CD 76 of my previous cycle-now. (500mg/3xs a day) I got a transvaginal ultrasound done on CD75. Cysts were found on my ovaries but I did have a big follicle about to ovulate. Luteal Phase was 11days that cycle. Not sure if starting metformin influenced that.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks & baby dust to all!

Hi! I've been charting to avoid for 3 1/2 years using FF, this is our 1st month ttc. For FF to be the most accurate you need to give it the most information as possible. If you have irregular cycles (I do too sometimes) then it's even more important. If you haven't yet, take the FF charting course online, it's easy and only takes about 30 mins.

To get the clearest picture, you should check your cervical position and mucous daily (best time is after a bm, try for around the same general time every day), along with temping at the same time every morning before you move out of the bed at all. If you have jagged temps, you may need to switch to vaginal temping. I had to do that because I sleep with my mouth open sometimes which affects your temps. It's no big deal and can give you a lot more accurate temps. Add in opks to get another set of data - try a different brand to see if that changes your results. I buy from early-pregnancy-tests . com.

Looking at your chart, I am having trouble finding a clear pattern but from the data that is there, I would agree with FF's opinion. The longer you chart and check your signs, the more familiar you will get with your body and begin to notice the signs of ovulation and your unique pattern. The pill does a lot of crazy stuff to our bodies and sometimes it takes a long time to regulate all those hormones back to normal.

There are herbs which can enhance your fertility and regulate your hormones and cycles, which can be especially helpful after the pill, but you'll have to do research or get professional advice about using them while you're taking the Metformin. Vitex (aka Chasteberry) is used to regulate your hormones, Red Clover flower is an overall health tonic and fertility enhancer and is the #1 recommended herb for fertility by Susun Weed, a renowned herbalist, Red Raspberry leaf is a tonic for the entire reproductive system, and Nettle leaf is a nutritive herb and health tonic that contributes to fertility. Here is a link to some herbal fertility info by Susun Weed. Be careful as some of those listed may be incompatible with Metformin, just from a quick search I did. Also make sure you are getting plenty of healthy fats in your diet (butter, lard, coconut oil, olive oil, full fat milk), because they are needed by your body to produce hormones. Based on my experiences with health issues, I can't recommend strongly enough the services of a licensed Naturopathic Doctor for issues like these that the usual medical community isn't too great at solving.

Best of luck and health to you!! :)
