Hi all

I guess I was hoping to never come in here but here I am! Been TTC for just over a year now . . . made an appointment for the GP next week. Not really sure what to expect or what to say . . . anyone else in the same boat?

Hi and welcome to the place no one ever wants to be!

I'm in the same boat, 12.5 months TTC now! We went and saw a GP about 3 weeks ago, we did an ULtrasound and semen analysis and got refered to a fert clinic called Repromed in our home city. We saw them last week and they just ordered more tests and we have our next appt jan 23 once they're all done!

Hubby is getting another SA, I'm getting anther US, some kind of X-ray, day 3-7 bloods, day 21 bloods, day 5-9 US. Woah! Not even 100% sure what each one is for.

Goodluck, push to be refered to a fert clinic ASAP as that's there the 'magic' happens! Loved our Dr he just seemed genuinely caring and open to our opinions about where to proceed but looks like potentially IUI for us or IVF!

All the best though, let me know how you go, positive is you're taking a step closer to your little bundle of joy :)

Hi,
We're on cycle 14 of ttc and finally rang GP yesterday and have an appt week. Someone else at work announced a pregnancy and have been tearful since. Hate how emotional it's making me. Was going to wait til new year but feel like I need to be proactive.
The only thing done at 6 months was my day 21 bloods that were apparently fine. So frustrating and starting to feel like it may never happen.
Sounds like we are in a similar situation
Hugs to all

Me minimoocow :hugs: I've been putting off 'graduation' for the past year - been at this game for 2 years now with a NTNP DH and a GP that has at last reluctantly referred me to a gynea chap, although I have a feeling it's too little too late  Never mind, I ain't giving in yet! :flower:

Hello everyone!

Sammy 33 - That is a whole lot of tests. Not surprised you don't know what they are all for! Hopefully you'll get some answers out of that lot. I don't like blood tests much - only ever had one and I nearly fainted so I'm a bit worried about being proded and pocked but not sure there is much I can do about that. 'd like some answers but don't think Id want to go down the IVF route but we'll see.

Silversurfer - My GP appointment is next Weds, when's yours? I'm trying to reherese a line to say when they ask whats wrong. DH is coming too. I know I'm going to go very red. I HATE the docs at the best of times. I try very not to get upset at friends having babies but finding this festive season hard . . . seems like I'm a kid stuck in advent with no hope of Christmas at the end.

Jax41 - its not too late after 2 years esp if you were NTNP for a bit. Let us know how you get on

Hi everyone, first post to the LTTTC boards.. Haven't been TTC quite as long, but were almost to the 10 month mark and we just had our first appt with my OB/GYN. She recommended DH see a urologist and get a SA (he can't even get in for a consultation until Jan 8...) and I have my orders for CD3 blood work. Who knows when that will be though, my cycles vary in length from 35-50 days.. So tired of waiting, I just wish I knew what was wrong and what the solution would be..

Hope all is going as good as it can be for you ladies, lots of baby dust :)

Lauren: The wait is the worst. I remember when DH & I were waiting to get in to see the Dr after we reached 1 year ttc and it felt like forever. He was sent for an SA and it came back low so my ObGyn said we should have him referred to a Urologist. It took forever but we finally got him in to his family Dr, his dr sent him for blood tests to see if it was something that could be fixed WITHOUT a Urologist... and we never heard back from him.

Hopefully your DH gets a clear bill with his SA and that it doesn't take you too long to get your bfp! :)

See, that's what makes me unsure of the process with my OB/GYN... She told us to go see a Urologist FOR the SA... I thought it was a test she could order. My hubby does have a preexisting condition that his doctor did tell him could cause problems conceiving later in life (but that was at an appointment when he was 15), so maybe it is a better idea to have him go straight to the Urologist - his condition actually enables him to go there covered by insurance, so we won't have to pay anything thank god; and there is a surgery he can get to correct it, so maybe we will go that route...

I agree with you guys, the wait is the worst but once you have a diagnosis and plan, there's so much more hope in the air. We really needed that extra boost of energy last feb when we were referred to the fc and knowing that it was me with the problem and what steps we needed to take, we've been taking it one cycle at a time. So far we had a BFP in Sept and m/c in Oct, we would have done IVF if the BFP wouldn't have come naturally. It's a start, maybe not the most ideal start but I'll take success and failure over nothing at all.

I hope you figure out what's going on soon and wish you :dust:

Technically my Ob shouldn't have ordered the SA for DH since she is a lady Dr and doesn't really specialize in the male department, but I think she did it to speed things along. Yeah, with a pre-existing conditon the Urologist is probably the safest way to go, and being covered by insurance is definately a bonus! If surgery is the option, hopefully after that you guys conceive in no time at all!

Hey mini,
Had my GP appt today and he was great. Referred us on to fertility centre. Was ready to argue for the ref and he just did it straight off. Now waiting for next appt. feeling more hopeful at least proactive.
How are you feeling about wed?:happydance:
