TTC, how to prevent semen from dripping out

We have tried woman on top and missionary positions, but in both positions, some semen drips out when my husband pulls out. He has tried remaining inside me for sometime, but even then this happens. Does anyone have tips? I do stay on my butt for 30 minutes before getting up.

I usually stay lying down for at least 30mins after I lie with a pillow under my bum elevated for as long as possible.
Also some ladies on here use softcups to help keep near the cervix

I've heard of people using a mooncup type device to keep as much in as they can.
I've never actually tried to keep semen in yet for TTC purposes (more for convenience than anything ), although with OH and I depending on how/where we do it I usually find that if I get down there with a tissue as OH comes out I find it tends to stay in until I get to the loo.

I dont think it matters too much if some leaks out, as millions end up heading in the right direction

Hi , Me and OH had the same problem. To stop that happening we only BD with him on top and i stay flat on my back for at least 30 mins with a pillow under my hips and my legs up. I find it easier to turn so my legs are resting on the wall.

Thanks ladies. I think the problem is not after we are done, but its more like when he pulls out, some semen probably sticking to his penis drips out. I don't know if he should remain inside me longer.

That will happen. It's normal. Hes prob still dripping and there is so much released i wouldnt worry about that small amount. Try raising your pelvis a bit when he pulled out and slip a pillow under or even better stick a pillow under when bding and keep it there. Just lie still for as long as you can. Don't move to use the toilet or anything (not good for preventing uti I know) I sometimes sleep with it under me and wake up after a few hours, use the loo get into my Pjs and go back to sleep. Xx

It's perfectly common for some to leak out. I was worried about the same thing and I even asked my dr. about it. He said so many of those little guys are released and as soon as they are they are swimming to the cervix faster than you think, the access semon just leaks out no matter how you lay. And plenty of girls get pregnant while they are on top, those little suckers are alot faster than we think.

It's not as conducive to BD with the woman on top because gravitiy will pull more semen out. There is still a chance that enough got to where it needed to go though. We usually use the missionary position and either have a pillow under my hips the whole time or I quickly put a pillow under my hips when we're done. They recommend lying flat with legs elevated 30 degrees for about 30 minutes. On days right before ovulation, I have used soft cups while I sleep (they can stay in for 12 hours). I also use soft cups for the times when I can't stay lying flat for that long. Like if I have to run errands or go to work after we BD, I'll stay flat for 15 minutes then get up and put a soft cup in so I can be on the move. Hope this helps!

i was TTC for a while when i read somewhere that if you keep your legs up afterwards then it helps. i tried it in jan then got my next month! it may have just been luck, but it did help to keep the from coming out good luck!

Hi! We have a similar problem and the best thing I've ever done is buy instead softcups! Had to get them online but as soon as you do the deed prob some pillows under your bottom and slip one in, kind of in a scooping motion until the front pops behind your pubic bone! I've only just started using them but they are a godsend and keep all those little potential babies where they should be!

that's just the way sex works. you BD, he comes, semen shoots out and some of it stays up there but the rest comes out. every time.

it doesn't mean you'll have a smaller chance of getting pregnant, it's just that this is what happens when people have sex. it's worked like that forever.

if you're worried about the mess, it helps for me to use a pantyliner afterwards to help keep everything clean. but some stuff is going to drip out every time. that's what happens when you have sex.

I hold my legs up with a pillow underneath my hips and it helps for a while. Also, you could try a diva cup or instead cup.

What is leaking out is semen not sperm. Once he shoots his healthy tiddlers they will go straight for where they need to go. PLUS i learnt this weekend that only 5% of what men shoot is actual sperm
