TTC on metformin for PCOS

Suppose I should introduce myself first I'm becca and have been TTC with my DF for 2 years. I have had every test done and so has he. He is fine and apparently above average and I'm fine other than not ovulating due to PCOS. I have recently started metformin and got my first ever peak on my clearblue fertility test. I'm now on the 2WW and feeling hopeful. Has anyone had any success with metformin or just started taking it too?? Could do with a buddy right now xx

Hi becca, as you will see from my signature I've been takin the metformin for a few months alongside clomid.

It made me feel really sick for weeks but that's settled down a bit now, also lost a bit of weight with it.

Hey. Have my fingers crossed for us both. The metformin gave me a really unsettled tummy which is now just calming down. Was horrible. Xx

Yeah, I think it's just getting used to it and making a few changes, I am now eating smaller meals which helps.

How many DPO are you?

Just a bit of positive for u, my mate was trying for 3 years then went in meta, she fell preg first month of trying, and same again with her second! So fingers crossed for u! X

KatCrazy I'm currently 3DPO but hate waiting this is the first month I have actually ovulated in ages

Hi guys.

I have been prescribed with Metformin for the 2nd time and giving it a good go this time.

I have around 7 stones to lose.

In order for the fertility clinic to prescribe clomid I need to lose 5 stones and for ovarian drilling I need to lose 3 stones.

I have not had a period since last May.

Has anyone had any success with Metformin? Weightloss/Conception?

Hi Jenni, I'm in a similar boat. I have PCOS and type 2 diabetes which was a sideline of the PCOS. I'm also overweight and need to lose 3 stone very quickly to get assisted conception on the NHS, very quickly cos I'm 37 eek! I'm on 3000mg a day of Met and I think its not working due to me not taking as subscribed. But as from now I'm determined to do it properly, so you can join me if you like on the weight loss/Met journey for our 2012 babies.

Oh, I did conceive once when faithfully taking them and lost a few pounds but was also taking Clomid. Unfortunately, it was chemical, but gave us some hope. I've heard some happy endings with Met takers

I am also on metformin 1500mg a day. Have lost three stone so far, another three stone to lose for clomid on the NHS! Have heard if i got private i can get lomid now, but can't afford it x

I got Clomid privately. I saw a local private GP-I paid £65 for the consult then about £7 for the prescription at Boots. She then only charged me £10 for further 'scripts. I wasn't monitored either, but hey, we're all know our stuff on here anyway, so knew what symptoms to look out for in case I over stimulated. 1st 2 cycles at 50mg, didn't work, went upto 100mg, got a peak on the digital ovualtion monitor and got a unfortunately lost it 4 days after So, technically a chemical-but it still hurts

My own GP said she could prescribe it, but I had to lose 2 stone before Easter (this was Feb) I couldn't even do that-I always leave things till the last minute, but I think I'm too late for it on the NHS if I don't lose 3 stone in the next few months. I'm so angry with myself for missing out on it. I'm in Scotland-I get 3 free goes of IVF
