So I was thinking.. What are your plans when you stop trying not to conceive?
Because I think the pressure of ttc is rather great, and it can really take the fun out of :sex:? And also you hear all these stories about people that conceive as soon as they stop trying..
On the other hand, ttc can be much quicker than ntnp, right? Does anyone know the statistics of the time that both ttc'ers and ntnp'ers take to conceive?

I, unfortunately, don't know the statistics. But personally I'm going to NTNP, I don't want trying to conceive a child to become stressful, I just want to sit back and let nature take its course :coffee: I'm a firm believer that it will happen when it's meant to

^ WSS! I couldn't tell you anything firm, but I don't want us to get all stressed about it, so we'll definitely be NTNP (at least for a while)

I like to call my method "Assisted NTNP" because I do prime my body and keep an eye on ovulation - but other then that? I don't obsess. If it happens, it happens.

I´m sort of in between the two. I do chart my BBT as I´ve just come off the pill and need to know if I´ve started ovulating or not ( not yet :growlmad:) so that I can get myself down to the docs if needs be but I definitely won´t be using OPK´s or obsessing about BDing around ovulation. That would be far too stressful for me!

I was having this convo with my OH yesterday actually. He said if i am going to chart then he doesnt want to know about it. He wants to ntnp- so no running home at lunch time for a quick :sex: session to ttc lol.
I will be charting for a while as I dont know my cycle- nothing worse than getting in the mood then realise your AF has arrived!
I would like to think i wont get too obbsessive like pillows under my hips afterwards etc but i have a feeling I will

The pillows thing is ridiculous. Literally just learn how to do pelvis tilts and there's rumor out there that if you reach the big O, the contractions will suck the semen into your uterus. Creepy huh?

We will be NTNP but keeping an eye on my cycles so i have a rough idea of when im ovulating.

I was watching the sex researchers a few months ago and the reason the head of the penis is shaped that way (like a bell) is to catch any sperm which may not be his and withdraw it.... maybe not a good explanation but contradicts what we are told about ttc. If you plan to up the amount you have sex make sure you dont do it in quick sucession or he will end up taking his own sperm out of your vagina!

Gotta love evolution hey! Goes back to when we were monkeys and survival of the fittest.

As I'm charting already, we'll be more TTC than NTNP. As long as my charts continue to show when I'm about to ovulate, I won't bother with OPKs, and I don't think we'll be bothering with legs up the wall etc unless it starts taking a while to conceive. And if we don't feel like BD then we won't, even if it's the right time of the month. Of course, if we end up having problems conceiving, I guess we'll get a bit more obsessive about it, but to begin with, not so much :)

We're planning to NTNP for 6 months, and if nothing happens, we'll start properly TTC. It definitely takes the pressure out of it all, I think. I'll be charting from next month too, so if we changed our minds about the 'not preventing' part during some months, we can avoid fertile days. :)

We will be TTC - I have health problems and so even while TTC I have to go in for tests every 4 weeks. Hopefully we get pregnant soon because the longer it takes - the riskier it gets. Boo!! Would love for it to be less stressful :/

We'll be NTNP I think :) depends how obsessed I am

Yikes, I just got referred for a fertility doctor! Yes, while WTT. That can't be good, right? And I have to wait till mid november.. Don't know if I am worried or excited because I will at least know if i can have babies or not.
Well, on the bright side OH said he wants to come too. He's not big on going along so it's a great sign!

We will be ntnp as the first go round of ttc didnt go well. We tried for a year gave up and the next month I fell pregnant :haha: so now I am a firm it will happen when its meant to believer

Btw good luck at the doctors. Hopefully you get good news

i shall be NTNP with a little TTC lol as im gunna keep track of fertile days but i kinda kno that i begin to get fertile around 3 days after af leaves so just enjoy humpy time from then onwards

Hi! We're NTNP for now, which may turn to TTC depending how long it will take for me to get my BFP!! I think it's less stressful to NTNP as you just enjoy being intimate together when you want to without thinking you HAVE to, if that makes sense!
Good luck x

Jumping back here from TTC threads!!

Right now I'm not sure how we'd be classified. I don't do charting, nor do I do OPKs. I've always kept track of my periods just because it's a good idea to do so. But as soon as AF stopped this past week, we've been going at it every other night, and plan to do so til I get another AF or a BFP!!!!!! We are both very turned on by the BDing so it's been GLORIOUS. :-D Having a lot of fun, and if it doesn't seem to happen for awhile then we will be more serious about the process.

ETA: We have always enjoyed being intimate, but we've been pulling out for years so this is a very fun change. Plus the excitement of making a baby in the process adds to it!! Is that weird?

We're going to NTNP for a while, simply because I'd rather not be showing for our wedding (or have to push it back!) next fall. Though if I do get pregnant, I'll be very happy. After the wedding, I'm sure I'll get much more obsessive if nothing happens while NTNP.

I hope I never have to TTC with all the charting hassle. Personally i'd rather take the NTNP approach, but tracking ovulation
