Hi All,

I have fallen pregnant in May, July, Aug and Oct 2015. All ended in very early MC. All within the first 3 weeks of conceiving.

I have relocated from my home in the UK to Central Asia. Unfortunately the doctors we have here are not very good and have treated my previous MC's without any care. I have had to do my own research and having suffered multiple MC's, I have learnt a lot about my body.

I have come to the conclusion that my reasons for MC is because my progesterone levels are too low. I have done blood work but the doctors totally ignored to check my PG levels, and just focussed on giving me the YES/ NO to pregnancy.

I fall pregnant very very easily, it's just maintaining the pregnancy that I can't do:|

I visited a helpful nurse earlier in the week who advised to start taking progesterone pills (Utrogestan 100 mg twice daily) due to recurrent MC's. Has anyone taken these pills? If so, oral? or vaginally?

If anyone has used progesterone pills after having suffered MC's, did you go on to have a successful pregnancy?

Please can you share any information you have on using progesterone, positive/ negative.

I know this is a long post, I'm so sorry but I really need advice on what to do. I can't go through this heartache any longer.

Thanks so much for taking your time to read this.

Pearl,
A couple of things....I've heard of some success with supplements. My DR put me on an over the counter progesterone cream called Progestacare (not the plus), that you use after confirmed ovulation until AF shows up. You keep using through 16 weeks if you fall pregnant without a break. You can buy it online and I really like it. I feel like it helped me with other things too, like more CM and my temp increased after the first cycle. I got PG on the second cycle but it was ectopic--however, upon me demanding the lab work, they tested my Progesterone and it was at least normal. I also had an MC in January so I know the feeling :(.

The other thing is, you might find some extra support in the TTC after a loss forum. Most of those ladies have some experience with these things (i'm part of that one too) and we've done a lot of research so can help.

Hey Girl....

Thank you so much for replying to me. I will deffo check out the other forum.

Thank you for recommendation on the Progesterone cream. I'm so glad to read that good came out of you using the cream. How did you use it? I'm new to this so I am clueless. I did see it avail over the counter but I chose the supplements instead. Maybe I need to head back and give the cream a try. Are you TTC currently?

I am so sorry to hear about both of your losses. It is so tough going through it but we are very lucky to have support and advice from everyone on this site.

I know this is going to sound so odd, but AF showed up 2 weeks ago which I led to believe was a MC. However for the past couple of days I am feeling extremely bloated/ gassy.

I don't know why but my stomach doesn't feel normal. I googled my symptoms and now I am thinking could it be ecptopic. Is it possible to have a period and still have an ectopic?

Does anyone know?! I should probably check the ectopic pregnancy forum:|

If you have an ectopic pregnancy you will definitely have a positive pregnancy test, so that's where I would start if you're feeling that way. But all my pregnancy symptoms were normal and my HCG levels and progesterone were normal too...when i was diagnosed at almost 6 weeks pregnant my HCG was just under 3,000. I was diagnosed because I started bleeding and went to the hospital. I also had cramps specific to my right side, which is the tube it was in. It could just be that you ovulated and now are having a big progesterone surge. Do you temp?

As for the cream, you just apply it topically and it supposedly works better than the supplements because it's natural and your body absorbs it. My doctor warned me against wild yam progesterone also...just fyi. The brand i use had measured doses and you apply it once in the morning and once at night. You want to pick spots on your body where your vessels are close to the surface like inside of arms and thighs, abdomen or chest.

Thanks so much for the detailed response. I really appreciate it.

I think it's safe to say that it is deffo an MC and not EP. As I didn't have a positive reading on any of the HPT's I did. It could be that I ovulated but my ovulation dates should be this coming weekend. Who knows, could have ovulated early since AF was super delayed. Is 3000 HCG low for 6 weeks PG? I don't chart or temp. I ought to, to be honest.

I have also read a lot about the progesterone supplements in the last couple of days. As well as the cream. When do you start applying it? At how many DPO? I think I am going to give my body a break this month, will start TTC again next month.

3000 is pretty normal for 6 weeks...
As for the cream you start after confirmed ovulation and keep taking it until AF shows up. If you get a bfp, you keep using it until 16 weeks because you don't want a sudden drop in progesterone.

Thanks so much for the info. You are so very helpful. Is it possible to continue taking Progesterone after 16 weeks? if so does it cause any harm to the baby? I know after 16 weeks the placenta makes up for it but what if it doesn't produce enough?

I'm not sure...my doc told me 16 weeks but I've read of some women who just kept using it.
