So me and LO are still working on our crawling. The thing is she HATES tummy time. I put her on her tummy every day but she's no better at it then she was as a newborn. She just faceplants the floor and cries until I go and get her. It seems like she still has no arm strength at all. She can sit unaided but can't get into crawling postition or on her tummy from sitting. She can roll over back to tummy but she feels herself going over and tries her hardest not to because she hates being on her tummy so much. It just seems like it's getting worse and I don't want to force her into something which she hates so much. Is there any other way I can build up her arm strength and encourage her to crawl. Has any other of the babies been like this?

Have you tried a tummy time mat? I used this for Avery when she was younger. She had this one.

https://www.amazon.com/Sassy-80076-...86/ref=sr_1_33?ie=UTF8&qid=1317048955&sr=8-33.

It raised her up just a bit so she felt more comfortable.

Have you tried a big chunky tummy time pillow underneath her, my LO hated tummy time but he wasn't too bad on this and held himself up really well, now he will tolerate it without the pillow and can really hold himself up like a little push up i suppose, it definitely helped him. Also i make sure i put him in a position thats easiest for him to push himself up in like making sure his arms and hands are where they need to be.

I've tried putting like a circle tubey pillow thing under her and it's still the same. I've tried dangling toys infront of her and singing and alsorts and nothing helps. She doesn't seem to be interested in moving full stop. I put toys out of her reach, she makes the most pathetic attempt to reach them and decides her feet are just as fun :dohh:

lamaze have a pretty cool tummy time thing
https://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51QG-tm6KeL._SS400_.jpg thats quite cool
although i know some babies just go straight to walking so could be that if she refuses to be on her tummy
have you tried just being right next to her on the floor making faces etc, put fav toy infront of her

Yup, I always go on the floor right next to/infront of her and she makes no attempt to lift her head up and talk to me, she just hides her head in the mat and screams until I pick her up :nope:

Evan hated tummy time too - I remember posting something similar!

About 8 months we got a very shallow paddling pool (small 1 ring) with balls and toys and he sort of rolled around in it and ended up on his tummy sometimes but with the ring under him so he didn't mind so much. A few weeks later he started commando crawling in it, then out of it, and was crawling properly by 9 and a bit months.

I was convinced he wouldn't crawl!

Nuts to it, I've just splashed out on that funky looking lamaze surf board mat to see if it helps. If it doesn't I'll give it to my cousins boy due in november :haha:

I feel awful for suggesting this, but what happens if you let her scream for a few moments? Does she try and do anything or just scream louder? I know it's rough to hear them scream, Avery can do some impressive screaming now.

She starts to cry so much that she sounds like she's choking and this is all in a matter of like a minute where she's down there. I just can't leave her like that. She's really good on her feet I'm not worried too much about the crawling, it's just the arm strength I'm worried about really. She has like massively chubby arms too which aint getting any smaller so I suppose the extra chubb isn't helping :haha:

If she can sit up and stand holding on to something, then I wouldn't worry too much. She'll probably get moving when she finds something she absolutely has to have. Try tempting her with your cell phone or the remote. :haha:

Avery is probably crawling because she's so skinny. She's got little bird arms and legs.

She doesn't pull up to standing on furniture yet but of we hold her hands she pulls herself up without us having to put in any of the effort for her

Madeline always hated tummy time - so much so that after a while we didn't really bother. She crawled at 10 months.

I think you can do all the tummy time in the world, but LO will still only crawl when they are ready. Enjoy the non-mobile stage for as long as you can...it's so much easier when they can't move from where you leave them!

My lo was the opposite, she LOVED tummy time! She always hated being on her back and was desperate to get on her tummy. But, if I put her straight on her tummy, she'd get a but disorientated & sometimes that upset her. She was happiest if I put her on her back and then helped her roll over.

Do you put her down on her tummy or roll her onto it? May not work, but just an idea!

We also sang 10 in a bed... A lot!! Especially when she was trying to roll over. She loved singing so it eased her frustration at not being able to roll by herself. The song might help her enjoy tummy time?

The Lamaze thing sounds ace though! Hope it works for you :flower:
