tummy time and lifting head

Hi all. My lo is 4 months but born 6 weeks early. She absolutely hates tummy time. Her head is still not that strong and Will bob a bit
if not supported and when doing tummy time she Will rarely lift her head up. I was wondering what age other preemies had complete head control? Thanks for any replies

My LO really struggled with tummy time. LO was seeing a physiotherapist and she encouraged us to do a lot of work on it. Her suggestions to help were us lying flat on our backs with baby on my chest so that when she lifts her head she can see mummy or daddy. Also helping baby roll over into the tummy time helps. Take her arm and leg and guide her over. We found that Robyn would cry straight away if we put her on her tummy but if we helped her roll over into it she would tolerate it a bit longer. When she gets bored then help her roll back out of the position too as this obviously helps teach her about rolling at the same time.

We started going to a baby sensory class when she was around 6 months old and she gave us some fantastic ideas of things to try and help too. One being put baby on bed on tummy but facing the edge. That makes it easier for you to get down in her eyeline to give her something good to look at. Also try putting a mirror under her face to look at.

Our physio also had us using a rolled up towel under her chest and arms as this position encourages them to start putting weight down through their hands which helps build the skills they need for crawling.

My baby is now 8 weeks old but he was born 8 weeks early. He also hated tummy time and would cry and cry, so we always had to stop early. I remember going in for his 6 month check up (4 months actual) and he could lift his head off the floor but couldnt keep it up for long. I think he was 5 months when he started doing it (3 months actual).

I may come off like a bad parent but I let him figure things out on his own and didnt really encouraged much of tummy time. Now he is 8 months and is lifting his head fine, in the crawling position most of the time, and can roll all over the place.
