Anyone had twins? please share your experince ..,

Anyone expecting? what are your plans? sections? natural? have you written a birth plan?

I had my son naturally so want to try that again, my consultant seems very pro sections and my husband is worried about complications and wants me to have a section (my son had complications but was fine).

Im terrfied of stitches, my epidural didnt work last time, and im worried about recovery time (looking after a toddler who wont then be 2 years and two newborns). But then i dont want to deliver one and have a section for the other either.

Its still early days, im just 20 weeks, just just want to know what others did or are doing/planning?

i know a mum whos had her triplets and her twins naturally

Hi there, I haven't personally given birth to twins but I have over the years delivered twins as a midwife at the hospital I work in the UK and been there side by side with the surgeon for sections. My experience of those deliveries were nothing but positive but obviously there are risks as you know with both methods of delivery. Not sure if you find it usefull but I hope you find it reassuring. The ladies I looked after for vaginal deliveries varied from not wanting an epidural to happy to have one. Especially depending under which Consultant they were under. One of the Consultants who is pro vaginal delivery does encourage twin ladies to have epidurals purely because it saves time should a section or instrumental delivery be required as the second twin can change position once twin one is born. All the best :)

I'm a twin :) My mum had us naturally with an epidural (she had a REALLY tough time with my big sister and was scared!!), but me, being the naughty baby - instead of going down, went up! A midwife had to 'pull' me out.. =/ Don't know if they do that these days!

Yeah, it still happens these days too. It is the second twin that often does need pulling out 'so to speak'. Once twin one is born, twin two suddenly has this unoccupied space which results in baby going from cephalic to tranverse for example. So a bit of coercion is necessary hahahah and generally you just get in there and get baby out if they do this! :)

Oh yeah just to say on my last point to Eternal. Even when twin two did require someone to get 2nd twin out, whether by hand or instrument, these have been positive outcomes still. I have not experienced the second twin requiring a section, although another midwife may have, its not that common once twin one has been born in my experience. Have a great delivery! :)

Thanks, my consultant seems very pro c section, but as i delivered a 9lb baby less than two years ago (by the time the twins are ready to be born) then i figure i have a good chance of deliverying the twins.

Im totally fine with having to have epi (or spinal as i had a failed epi with my son), but really would like to try. saying that, by the time i get there ill prob just want them out and c section is the quicker option lol!

Ill just keep an open mind and see where that take me lol!
