Twins Born at 29+5

Hi, ladies. (And any Dads hanging around, too ) I'm finally getting around to posting here about my girls.

My twins, Tegan and Britton, were born on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 29+5w gestation. Tegan was born at 3:18pm, weighed 2lbs 13oz and measured 15in long. Britton was born at 3:20pm, weighed 2lbs 15oz and measured 14-1/4in long.

Today, they are 2 weeks and 4 days old. B's lowest weight was 2lbs 8.9oz and she is now 3lbs 1.6oz. T's lowest was 2lbs 9.5oz and currently weighs 3lbs 0.1oz. At birth, both were placed on CPAP with 21% oxygen. As of last night, they are both now on room air. They began eating when they were one day old, starting with 3cc every 3 hours. They are both now taking 23cc every 3 hours and no longer recieve any IV fluids.

She was actually sucking on the paci while remembering to breathe! I'm very proud of her for that.

On Thursday night, we were surprised to get to the NICU and find that the spot where Tegan's isolette usually is was empty! She'd been moved to the Feeders & Growers side of the NICU! And on Friday night when we showed up, we found her like this:

I am very pleasantly surprised to find her in clothes! I wasn't expecting her to be off the patient-regulated temperature setting so soon! We're bringing her some clothes from home tonight so she will have a larger variety than just what the NICU has to spare.

Also, at last weigh-in (last night), Tegan is weighing 3lbs 1.9oz


Britton is on the nasal cannula again, due to an odd noise I heard her making during a visit on Wednesday. Her doctors did a chest x-ray and found everything clear, so the noise she was making is kind of a mystery. She's only making it as she inhales. Maybe she's just trying to scare me and there's nothing actually wrong. (It sounds like she's "babbling/talking" a bit, but it didn't feel right to me.)

So very beautiful. Congratulations.Looks like they are doing remarkable. My niece had a preemie and I can remember the day we walked into the nicu, and he had clothes on for the first time. We were so excited.

My daughter was also born at 29+5. I remember the day I walked in and she was wearing clothes. I was so happy.
