Ok ladies i have been posting on the ltttc for about a month or so now but recently had a letter through the post letting me know that both tubes are blocked.

i am now compleatly lost as to what happens next. DH had his sa today so not sure how long the results will take, but untill then-at a compleat loss as to what the hell we do now.

I am 31 and dh is 25, we have a 4 and half year old son and have been trying to concieve for 4 years. I had a hsg 6 weeks ago and found 2 blocked tubes. I have also been told that 15% of results are false positives and the only way to get a real answer is to have the lap & dye (which scares me).

I am looking for some women who have some idea of how i am feeling and anyone who has any ideas or comments.

Thanks in advance ladies xxx

i dont im sorry, i go in for my hsg tomorrow and worried about the blocked tubes myself. good luck and if i find out more info i will come back an post

Hi there,
I just found out before Christmas that I had damaged tubes. I had no idea! I had even gone for an HSG test in the summer, and the liquid came through the tubes in the ultrasound. We were starting the IUI process in the fall when my FS thought he saw cysts on my ovaries, and I went in for a surgery to have them removed in Dec. During the surgery, the FS found that both of my tubes and one of my ovaries were damaged beyond repair, and all three had to be removed. :( Our only option at this point is IVF, which we are starting in the next few months.
Obviously, my case is pretty extreme. I can't offer much advice about blocked tubes, but I hope that you find some answers soon! I can definitely empathize with you! It's a scary feeling.

I have had 2 laps and they are worth it coz they can diagnose things properly and fix what bits they can. I had a polyp removed and my womb lining scraped the 1st time and they found I had 1 blocked tube. They 2nd one I had endo and a cyst removed and they checked the tubes again.

Hi there, I had a HSG a couple of weeks ago and they found one of my tubes was blocked right next to the ovary. I saw our FS this week and he was not concerned at all because he said that there was a chance that it was a false negative (ie. the tube is open) because sometimes the tube can spasm. Now, this usually happens when the blockage is shown next to the uterus, but sometimes it can partially spasm next to the uterus and only a small amount of dye goes through and it doesn's have enough pressure to force it as far as the ovary due to the spasm. This makes it look like a blockage next to the ovary
He said even if it is blocked, he doesn't think it will be serious and he may be able to fix it because I don't have a history of any pelvic infection. In fact he didn't even think I needed a lap and dye and he suggested we go straight to IVF.
Because of the worry wart that I am, I've opted to have the lap and dye to be certain. I'm absolutely petrified, as he scared me half to death with the possible scenarios of complications, but I just want to know. Millions of ladies have this procedure and at least it means it will be sorted.
It may well be that he does the test and finds everything's fine with your tubes, so try not to worry.
I know that's easier said than done!

I had a HSG a few yrs ago and it was clear and i still went on to have 2 ectopics and lost both tubes so those tests are not very reliable i dont think. I would opt for the lap and dye to be sure. Good luck xxx
