At 8 weeks my DD went on a nursing strike. We had just gotten her to take a bottle after 3 weeks of trying, so I thought she suddenly decided she preferred bottle over boob, so we did no more bottles and no pacifier. It didn't make much difference. For two weeks I had to dream feed every time I nursed her, sometimes that wouldn't even work. She would occasionally nurse if I was in the tub with her but not always. We did tons of skin to skin, I tried to stay calm and not pressure her to take the boob, but it was an extremely stressful two weeks. I noticed that when she refused the boob she would kick and pump her legs hard, so I thought maybe she had an upset stomach. I picked up some pediatric probiotic drops called Gaia drops. Less than 12 hours after giving her the probiotic she was on the boob like an animal, and stayed on the boob almost constantly for the next two days. It's been a week now and I can say with confidence that this nursing strike is finally OVER! Thank god! We have given her a bottle since the strike has ended and it hasn't affected her nursing so I think the bottle was a red herring. If your little one has an upset tummy or is colicky try these probiotic drops, especially if your bub is refusing to nurse. For us they worked like a miracle!
