im a bit scared, im on lantus (55units) and novorapid (more or less 30 units after every meal) and over the past 2/3 days ive had more hypos. atleast once a day were as before i was having one once in a blue moon really.

im scared as it seems my insulin requirements are reducing. im going to call the diabetes midwife tomorrow morning and see what she says, but im just worried that they will wisk me off for a c section..... obv if its needed im ok with it, but ive been given the ok to try for a vbac aslong as i am favourable in 2 weeks.

anyone know what is likely to happen or been through this?

I'm in the early days of my first, so no experience with what you're going through but didn't want to read and run.

Good luck, my thoughts are with you! :flower:

Hi, I see from the bottom of your post that they have now booked you in for a C Section on 17th December, hope youre okay with that. At least not long to go : )

I was surprised they've booked you in for a C Section due to your low sugars, as I have always been told that the lows weren't to be concerned about in regards to having an effect on the baby, just the highs. I go low quite often and although it makes me feel awful in myself I know I'm not doing the baby any harm so it makes me feel a bit better.

I'm also on Lantus and Novorapid. Just out of interest what have your Lantus and Novorapid levels been like prior to your rise in blood sugars? or what did you take prior to pregnancy?

Mine were before pregnancy: 20 units of Lantus and 12 units of Novorapid with meals. Now I am 27 weeks I take 26 units of Lantus and 22 - 24 units of Novorapid. It seems alot less than what you are taking so I can only assume I will have to increase alot in the coming weeks.

I am due for my growth scan next week, so worried that I've had the occasional evening highs that are making her grow too fast : (

I understand if you have no time to reply, with a baby being born in about 10 days : )

Hi Louisa, I am sorry I didn't get time to reply or thank you for posting in another thread, I hate being rude, but I have had such a bad back that it really hurts to sit at the computer for too long so I've only been sneaking on this site very occasionally unfortunately x

No worries!

We're all busy running about getting things sorted. I mean with all the opthalmology appts, diabetic appts, midwife appts, ultrasound appts, obstetric appts, working and families to cope with, I don't think I'll be as tired as I am now when bub arrives and everyone's coming to me instead!!! ... how about u?

Hope your back is on the mend :flower:

I have come to the conclusion that this site will be like my bit of fancy on the side - I keep sneaking online when hubby isn't around! :winkwink:

Lol

Hope everyone is getting on well on the approach to Christmas!

ive been diabetic for 22 years and low sugars especially a lot of them and unexplained in late pregnancy can be a sign that the placenta is stopping working, please get checked xx
