hi there,

i was just wondering, since im new in Manchester, is anybody having/ has had their baby in North Manchester General Hospital aka Crumpsall Hospital? Just would like to know if you are happy with it and stuff..

We chose to have Riley there as at the moment it is about 2 minutes drive away from our house but we are moving away to Middleton so wont be that close..

Looking forward to hearing anything you have to say about it..

hehehe where to begin lol

no its not a bad hosptial, i had my first 2 there and im planning on having my third there too, they run tours of the maternity ward and delivery suit if you want to have a nosey about.

if you want to know anything specific lemme know :)

i think its still the closest hospital to middleton, but your other option then would be Oldham which is supposed to be nicer but i dont know lol

Is that the one that's on Delauneys Road? If so, it doesn't look the best, but I have heard that the maternity care is really good. There is also Fairfield in Bury which is about 20 mins from Middleton, but haven't heard good things about it (its my nearest hospital and we are planning to go to Royal Bolton)

thanks for the comments. i dont know, i just dont like my midwife, in every appointment she just looks like she couldnt care less.. i have met the others and they are lovely but mine, she is just not very nice.. i mean i dont really mind at the moment for my check-ups as i am having a pretty textbook pregnancy but i really dont want her to be the one when i am giving birth, i wold like to see or at least feel that they care and know how important it is in our lives.. anyway, thank you very much and am looking forward to hearing anything you have to say..

i tried to answer this yesterday but my net died and it didnt post lol

are you having your antenatal appointments at the hospital too?

ok first phone your doctors, ask them for the local midwives number, explain what problem your having and ask to see someone/somewhere else.

i know the blackley midwives is based on victoria avenue, maybe you could got there? its not too far from mid.

ive had 2 daughters at crumpsall, and have never had the midwife who provided my antenatal care there, its whoever is on duty who delivers your baby so i highly doubt your midwife will be there unless you request her to be

even if you choose a different hospital though chick, your still going to have the same midwife team as it goes by the area you live in rather than the hospital your at

thanks sezzlebum. i see the midwife in the valentine medical centre where my gp is, and these midwives are based in the hospital in the ante-natal clinic.. like i said im not really that bothere at the moment for the checks, or it could just be me feeling like she doesnt care, im quite hormonal.. whereabouts do you live in manchester?

pmsl near you by sounds of it, my gp's at valentine medical center, (im in harpurhey near mannings pub), i saw the midwife there once and decided to go with the moston ones coz i didnt like her, if you dont want to see her cancel your appointment and go to the drop in at north city, its on a tuesday afternoon and speak to them about switching over, i like them their nice lol

she wont be there when you go in hosp ;)

i am going to NMGH and i have heard some bad things about the maternity care there! I also don't really like my midwife, she isn't helpful at all and seems annoyed when i ask her questions about things!

and i also go to the valentine medical centre but i see my midwife in north city, they are not very helpful at all!

thats ur experience, but in my experience i found them helpful and chatty and they even took the time to show my other children what stage the baby is at in a special book, so personally i havent got a bad thing to say about them, (at the moment :p)

how far are ya?

Hi, i was born in Crumpsall and my mum hates that hospital. She has a bad experience there with one of her pregnancys so i think she is biased. She swears by St Marys hospital, (it has a fantastic maternity/baby unit) which is where she wants me to have mine, but i have chosen Fairfield in Bury as i know 5 girls who had their babies there (inc sister in law with both her kiddies) and praise the staff and baby units. Also, my aunty works there and would tell me in her honest opinion if she wouldnt like me to use Fairfield.

Its closest to me and iv had all my treatments done at that hospital and iv always been happy with how iv been dealt with.

ps: Middleton, i used to live there before i moved to Prestwich! Where abouts you moving to? I used to live in Hollins.

Thanks ClaireLouise. im moving to Mellallieu Street just off Long Street, in the middle of Langley and Middleton really. Congratulations on your pregnancy ! xxx

Thank you doll! I know the place! Not that far from the Olde Boars Head pub and the library? Thank god you're not moving the Hollins or Boarshaw haha! Langley is much better now. You live about 5 mins from my mum, she lives on Cheapside right oposite St Leonards Parish church.

Good luck to you sweets and congrats to you too! Not long now for you i see!
