So when I see mw for booking in appointment I guess she will ask about previous labours. So I had emcs. Will I need to see an obstetrician at some point? I think I want a vbac but obviously need to talk it through with someone. Also I'd like to find out why I ended up with my section? Anyone in UK know what happens?

I wanted to try for vbac after an emcs and was referred to the vbac clinic at the local hospital. I assume they will look through your notes to see if you are suitable for vbac. I knew why I had ended up with an emcs so I'm not sure what happens if you don't know. I had to go to the vbac clinic a few times as additional appointments during my pregnancy so they could discuss my options and monitor how things were going and then finally at 40 weeks so we could discuss what happens if you go overdue etc.

Sorry I didn't explain myself. I know why I had emsc. My son was in a bad position. I pushed for 2 hours, they tried forceps and then eventually a section. I just have a lot of questions about it all. Why didn't they notice his position, why didn't the forceps work ect. Thanks for the information. Did you manage a vbac?

Unfortunately not. I went overdue and ended up being induced and had s second emcs due to failure to progress. Fingers crossed yours would go better if you decide to go for it :)

Now I thought they wouldn't induce after a section. ??

It really depends what your hospitals policies are. At mine elcs was brought up straight away as an option though they prefer vbac. I failed o progress, baby had cord tight round neck so despite me attempting to dilate she wasn't putting her head there, was back to back and large. No medical reason they said for needing cs.

Where my friend is having her second they're very much vbac unless you have medical reason. I believe induction was offered to her.

It could be something to do with the gap between babies too. There'll be 20 months between mine, and over 2 years with the friends so they may not be so worried. But if there's less than 18 months, it may be a different matter.

Though no one looks up dd's notes to see, they go by what I say. Any questions I have re dd's birth are sort of shunned. It's the same hospital too!

My first was an emergency c-section...

When it came to my second. I was automatically down for VBAC delivery... There was 2 years and 10 months between my sons. I did opt to have a Planned Section (although i had to do alot of kicking and screaming to get the section, doctors were refusing) the fear of what went on during my first labour has scarred me for life!.

Im onto my third now and because ive had 2 previous section... I HAVE to have another section

I told MW about EMCS at booking in appt
Had appt with VBAC consultant at 28weeks (I think)
Appt with C-Sec consultant at 30weeks (I've chosen elective section)
I have an appt at 36weeks with consultant just to check everything's okay to go ahead with section at 39weeks!

There might be something you can do about your last labour, my VBAC consultant gave me info on a service I could use to sit down and talk and go through my notes with someone (Birth Afterthoughts I think its called) after I spoke to them about how traumatic the labour was for me and why I was so scared of the thought of having to go through labour again! :flower:

My hospital were very helpful. I asked my midwife to refer me to the consultants for a 'caesarean review' she called it. I got an appointment with the VBAC Clinic Leader who was a Midwife Consultant and like you I knew why I ended up with an EMCS. I knew I wanted an ELCS this time.
I listened to everything the VBAC Clinic Leader had to say and he explained everything very well, he told me there would be no chance of another induction (my main fear and something I was adamantly going to refuse in any circumstance) and that I was entitled to the operation if I wanted it. He also explained the risks etc to ensure I was aware. It's only going to have been just under 20 months since my last section so I wouldn't feel comfortable trying to VBAC, rupture scares me!
He told me to go away and think about it and either schedule to see him again to try plan my VBAC or contact my consultant. I contacted my consultant, saw them at 32 weeks & they booked my ELCS for 39 weeks.
Hopefully you'll have a decent team in your area!
xx

I had an emc @ 41 weeks due to ruptured membranes - and failure to progress passed 6cm after all forms of inductions many sweeps pesserie drip induction.
I will be attempting vbac 14months after giving birth to my daughter. I want to atleast try. I dont get ay extra apiointments with a midwife just that consultanrt @ 20 and then maybe 30something weeks to check my plan i will give him or her my long birthplan and see what they say and book a elc for 40 weeks if i dont go naturaly as i dont want to be induced xx

I'm in same position my hospital are very pro vbac and I never want to ever feel that out control I loved my first c section x

I had to see a consultant at 36 weeks with my second child after I had an emcs with my first (he got stuck) to discuss delivery. He recommended an elective section as the baby was on course to be bigger than my first. As it turned out, choosing the elective probably saved my life as I had undiagnosed placenta previa and when they went into the old scar to deliver my baby they cut straight into the placenta as it had fused to the old scar. Had I gone into labour and tried to deliver naturally there was every chance I would have hemoraged internally.

At my booking in appointment with the midwife this time she hinted they would want to do another section, I broached the subject of a vbac and she said it will be discussed at 36 weeks if I want to try for one, depending on size of baby, how the scar is holding up etc.

Bloody sure before anyone goes near me this time they'll be double checking where the placenta is! Don't fancy another transfusion!
