In the England and Wales it's still not illegal to ask a woman to stop BFing in public.

This is pretty out of step with the rest of the world - most other western countries dont allow people to.

The Equality Bill proposes that it will be a criminal offence to ask a woman to stop BFing but will only cover babies upto the age of 6 months. What about Mum's BFing after 6 months?? Or Mum's with babies who are say 4 or 5 months and look at 6 months or older??

This is an official petition to 10 Downing Street to ask for The Equality Bill to cover women BFing their babes, regardless of age.

I think I already signed this a long time ago but thanks for posting it. It's ridiculous that it only covers mothers feeding babies up until 6 months! The World Health Organisation recommends breastfeeding up until the age of 2, which is the age for Scotland, that would be far better if there has to be an age limit specified at all.

Thats what i dont understand.... its a total contradiction, its like they say ''its best for your baby to be bf up to 2 years old but once theyre 6 months you have to go in a stinky toilet to do it''...... WTF?????? x

Scotland passed the Breastfeeding (Scotland) Bill in 2004. Anyone who prevents a mother from breastfeeding is breaking the law and liable to a fine of up to £2,000.
