Uncaring society

The trouble is that you don't know what to do for the best sometimes. There are a few nutters about and you never know what's going to happen.

I remember when I was 16 and my grandad had picked me up from an evening class at college so it would've been about 9pm. On the way home, we came upon this man just laying in the road. My grandad stopped and got out to help him. As he approached, another man came from behind a bus shelter and tried to attack my grandad. Luckily, he's a tough old bugger and hit him before he had a chance and he went down like a ton of bricks. My grandad ran back to the car and the man in the road jumped onto the bonnet banging the windscreen! We locked the doors, started to drive off and the bloke just jumped off and ran away. Got home and phoned the police who couldn't give a toss :(

My mate Matt was on a bus once on the top deck and there was a couple arguing. The fella was telling his girlfriend that he was going to knock seven bells out of her when they got off the bus. Matt, being a gentleman, got off early when they did to make sure she was ok. Lo and behold, he started hitting his GF in the street so Matt intervened. He got a knife in the back for his efforts and the girl ran off up the street with her boyfriend. Madness.

My pregnant friend Steph (8 months, so massively obvious) stuck up for some young Asian girls working in a local Subway shop when some dick was racially abusing them for not giving him a freebie. She got pushed over and kicked in the head and the back.

I have plenty of these stories - it's such a messed up world we live in. I'm not ashamed to say that, in light of the many experiences I've had, I probably wouldn't have helped the guy on the train either. In the same light, I wouldn't have filmed it and I would have called an ambulance. I'm not completely heartless!

P.S. If it was an elderly person etc. then I would help. Just saying you have to think carefully about any potential risk to yourself. :flower:

Agree with Piggywinkle!

Things aren't always so cut and dried!

i do think some people lack empathy. a few years back i slipped and fell on my bum i couldnt move at all for about 10 minutes. i was in a busy shopping centre and only one person had given me a hand. and others just laughed. rude twats.
