I'm wandering what everyone else's experiences are?

I am 14w 4d pregnant and have noticably been getting really uncomfortable in bed the last couple of days. I find if i'm lying on my back, it feels like there is a pressure on my back - it's not painful, but uncomfortable. I therefore went to sleep on my right side. I woke up in a couple of hours and my belly felt sore and stiff. So I sat up, went for a cup of tea, then back in to bed. I was ok then for a while, but kept waking up uncomfortable! Surely it will only get worse

im the same Angela and have been for about 3 weeks- i find my hips ache and i can get pins and needles really easily, i didnt expect it to be like this so early on either! have u thought about gettin a pregnancy pillow?

I have given thought to a pregnancy pillow, but they are quite expensive really. i have tried a normal pillow under my belly and that seems to help a bit. i will see how it goes. Do you have one? x

yes ive just bought a dream genii which even though seems good i have to say i do think they are quite over priced (£45 but i managed to get a new one for £35 on ebay). u can get cheaper versions though. was just thinking if u say your belly is feeling sore and stiff they do offer great belly support. im gettin more pain in my legs and sides so i think mine will be more useful later on for me x

i'm beginning to find it uncomfortable. i keep trying to put a cushion underneath to help. x

I lie on my sides when I'm sleeping and I wake up constsntly in the night and have to turn over because the hip and leg of the side I am laid on is really sore and painful. I'm getting back to sleep ok but have to keep turning over and sometimes get up have a wander and then lie down again. I'm suprised too that it is like this now, I thought it wouldn't be the case until the third tri. Anyone know why the hip and legs ache? Is it extra weight..but surely bubs is not too big yet?

For me it is more restlessness and the heat, total nightmare

I got one of those long body pillows when I was feeling so uncomfy - it has been my life saver!!

It's the long body pillows i've been looking at. They are not to badly priced, may consider investing in one shortly x

Hi,

I would recommend sleeping on the left side as per what most websites have said and with a pillow in between your legs. Hope it helps!!! x

Any reason it recomends sleeping on your left side? x

Because your liver is on the right side of your abdomen, lying on your left side helps keep the uterus off that large organ. Sleeping on the left side also improves circulation to the heart and allows for the best blood flow to the fetus, uterus, and kidneys. Ask what your doctor recommends — in most cases, lying on either side should do the trick and help take some pressure off your back.

(googled it for you hun:haha:)

yep, I have not been able to sleep straight through the night in weeks.. And it's not even because of my bump, since I am very small.. It's more because of the pressure. I am a tummy sleeper... Last night I tried to lay on my left and my princess was moving around so much I had to lay elevated on my back

re left - they also say theres major arteries on the right hand side that you could put pressure on and could make you a bit light headed.

tbh I am most comfy on my right, and 3/4 on my front too.

Can I suggest getting some gentle exercise (or whatever level you feel is safe and comfortable for your stage of pregnancy) before going to bed? You might find your blood circulation is better and you sleep more soundly.
