I went out for a christmas meal last night. I decided to order the duck as I thought that as it was a place that made freshly cooked food, I could order it very well done. When it came, it looked cooked through (it was duck breast that had been sliced so I thought that it must be ok). As I started eating it I thought that some bits looked pink. It was in a berry sauce but the pink bits of duck weren't touching the sauce. I ate around the pink bits but now I am worried. I usually have all my meat cremated so this is new to me. I felt like because I was in company, I couldn't cause a scene and either send it back or not eat it especially as another in the group is also pg and had her duck as it came (which was pinker than mine).

I am annoyed with myself more than anything as I usually have something vegetarian when I go out to eat as then I know that I won't have a problem with undercooked meat :dohh:. I feel ok today so don't think I will get food poisoning as such but am worried about toxoplasmosis.

I think your fine sweety, like if you had food poisining hate to be blunt but itd be coming out both ends by now which sucks :/ just relax fora day and drink plenty of water :)

Having your duck a bit pink won't cause you any problems. Bacteria only really lurk on the surface of meat really (with the exception of chicken), so as long as every surface of the meat has been well sealed (which requires a high temperature) and it hasn't been sat around for ages (which it won't of been in a restaurant) there shouldn't be anything that will cause you any problems.
(FYI the above advice regarding meat is verified by the NHS pregnancy book my midwife gave me).

Hope worrying about it didn't spoil your meal :)

You will be fine. You would likely know about it by now if there were a problem anyway. Im still eating red meat cooked medium as I hate it well done. So long as its sealed on the outside its highly unlikely to cause a problem.x

As far as I can see from google searches you can eat duck rare!!!!
