Underweight baby..

The average for 26 weeks is about 2lb3 I think? My little girl is weighing 1lb9. I'm not worried that she's underweight because she's always been generally quite small.. But, could this make her late?

Oh just saying "my little girl," and "she," and "her," puts a smile on my face :)

The midwives always said that Ryan was measuring up small, and said he'd probably be 7lb at the most if he was born at 40 weeks. However, he was 7lb7 when he was born, and came just over 3 hours early! So I wouldn't worry about it, and she still has a lot of time to put on weight :) x

you have to remember too that thats just an average. So, alot of babies are smaller than that, and alot are bigger. Each person/baby is different. :D

No, it doesn't mean baby will be late, he/ she will come when its ready, reguardless of weight. Hopefully just before her due date not after so you don't have to wait too long!

My little girl was 2lb at 28 weeks and arrived 3 days before her EDD - She wasn't exactly a massive baby (6lb 10.5) but then that was more than big enough in my opinion lol!

I think your MW or the sonographer would've said something it was going to be an issue as others have said, some baby's will be way bigger and some smaller. Maybe you could ask next appointment if you're still worried?

also the measurements that they take with the ultrasound aren't really exact. They are close, but not exact at all. My friend the doctor kept telling her the baby was going to only be about 6 lbs. and when he was born he was almost 8!

My twin sister was the same Holldoll. Even upto a week before the birth of her little one, the midwife told her he'd be around the late 5 pound/early 6 pound mark (we are both quite small). He was 7 pound 11 ounces! I'm 28 weeks pregnant and like my sister I am measuring small - 26cm fundal height. It should be around 28cm at 28 weeks. My midwife didn't seem overly worried though. She told me it's not exact. Hopefully your little one won't be late :hugs:

Mine weighed in at 1lb 14 oz on Wednesday, and I thought that was a bit of a porker! I wouldn't worry at all. We still have loads of time for our LOs to put on weight.

I don't feel so bad about eating some ice cream and stuff now I know she's not huge

I have decided that I am going to blame the baby for my earlier ice cream incident. Obviously my LO needs fat, it has hit that time where it begins to put on weight, and needs the fat. Yep, that is why I ate the whole pint. Gotta do what baby want. What baby wants, baby gets.

Oh Yay Toria, I haven't been on here all weekend, take it you found out the sex this time! Congrats!

At 36 weeks they scanned me with Zach as they though he was very small and a girl. He turned out to be a 9lb 3oz BOY:rofl::rofl::rofl:

He was born on his due date 27th March 1999, he wasn't the biggest baby though. The girl in the bed across from me had a HUGE 11lb 2oz boy naturally no C-section or anything?? OUCH!!!

So take heart Toria, it is likely that your baby will be a lovely normal weight at full term.

Good Luck!

Im pretty sure Junior is going to be a big baby, I just have a feeling. I dont have a big bump yet but its so uncomfortable when I eat and I need to wee all the time. I think he's taking up all my room!
