Hi everyone! My husband and I are TTC for the first time and have been since Christmas, so only just about a month. I think I ovulated on 18th Jan and then 7 days after that I had a small amount of brown blood. My AF should be due tomorrow, yesterday I went for a cervical smear (joy of joys) and the nurse told me I was on the cusp of my period.

OH is abroad with work just now so I emailed him with a :( and he told me I was over thinking everything and with his condition it was unlikely to happen. I knew he had had found cysts in his testicles when he was 18 but I hadn't realised he had also had an undescended testicle when he was born. I'm not sure if it descended naturally or if he had an op to bring it down.

I was reading about advice from the NHS and it says we should continue to TTC naturally for 6 months and then seek advice, but IMO if we have concerns about fertility for a good reason we should be allowed to seek testing. Does anyone know anything about this??

Thanks for your help!!

My opinion about this has always been that if you want testing now, you should have testing now. It's about you, not the doctors. Especially since you have a valid reason for concern, I would say it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and ask for tests - minimally an SA (semen analysis) for your OH. It either puts your mind at ease that everything is okay or it allows you to know what you're dealing with so that you can make a game plan. Either way you're better off than before. If I were you, I'd go ahead and request testing.

You could always have DH get an SA done to put your mind at ease. We're on cycle 10 now and my DH also had an undescended testical at birth that was corrected, he was assured by doctors when he was older that he would be able to conceive but I'm hoping to get him in for a SA to see how they're all doing down there.
