Hello Ladies...

DH and I visited the doc today ... resulting in " unexplained infertility". He is going to start me on a round of clomid my next cycle as well as injections to increase egg production. I'm feeling quite nervous because my insurance covers six cycles.. the doc said typically after six attempts.. if I havent gotten pregnant by then.. there isnt much he can do for me :(

Anyone else having issues with unexplained infertility?

I guess I just needed a place to vent. thanks for listening ladies!!

Hey I wanted to wish you luck. Also, I was told that Soy Isoflavones is like natures clomid. I haven't tried it but there are a lot of ladies up here who use it. If you can't get more clomid after 6 cycles maybe you can try that...:hugs:

My hubby and I have been to a FS which after all the testing found nothing wrong.
OH had a SA which came back great, I had tons of blood work, ultra sounds, HSG and all came back "normal" I have a reg period every 28 days and from what the FS told me I do ovulate so not sure why no bby yet.... We have been TTC for 2 yrs 7 months we are both young 26 yrs & for the most part a healthy couple in our ideal weight... We are just one of those couples with a unexplained infertility....

The FS gave me 1 round of clomid (50mg) to try and see if that works, she also mention we can look into AI but for now i dont think that is something we want to try just yet.
Also she did mention that if we decide on AI i would be on clomid and if that doesnt work after sevral trys then we might have to bump it up to injections.

I think the word 'unexplained' is awful thats exactly what they said to me.sometimes it just takes longer to concieve then others and eventually ull have ur bfp :)
goodluck hun xx

We're unexplained too. It's SOOOO frustrating. We've been sent away now until we've been trying for 3 years and then we can go on the list for IUI/IVF after all that time. Grrr

3 years you have to have tried if you're 'unexplained'. If they find a problem, you go on the list if you need it.
What gets me is, we've been tryin 18 months. We have to wait another 18 months just to get on the list. Then after that we'd have to wait about 8 months to get to the top of the list. :growlmad: I think it's 2 years for IUI, however we've been told that IUI isn't recommended for people with endo (which I have)

3 yrs?!?!?!? Where do you live?

After all of our test came back normal for both me and my hubby our FS suggested IUI along with clomid and if that doesnt work she did mention we can go in to IVF or other methods. This was after about 21 months of TTC. My Gyno made me wait 18 months before he reffered us to the FS.

One thing to note with Clomid is that I hear it can dry up your CM. May want to try and find something to help with CM production, too. Hope that works for you!

NE England. My doc referred us after exactly a year, because I have endo and didn't want it to get even worse. I've just had tubes checked and they were fine so defo no help for us now.

Hello girls, i'm also unexplained :( I had all the fertility tests done and everything seems fine, so Im in the unexplained category. It is such a hard diagnosis, as you dont know what to fix :(

How long have you been trying annetecali?

Unexplained infertility can be very frustrating... ~! I have had a few friends that have said.. " oh well that's good.. they couldnt find anything"! Well.. not really in my eyes. I walked away feeling like I don't know which direction to take. The doc is putting me on clomid.. even though I'm clearly ovulating... although it was a bit late.. so hopefully this will be the trick!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you! Tomorrow is my pre medication appt with the doc.. im a bit nervous and excited at the same time. i'm really trying to stay positive throughout the next six months!

sending positive vibes everyone's way!!!

Arianne.. you are right.. it is such a difficult diagnosis because you walk away not knowing what the issue is. There is obviously an issue if we havent conceived yet. :( I have friends that say.. " oh that's a good thing.. so nothing is wrong"! no... wrong!!! lol.. I've made the mistake of telling a few too many people.. so now I have them checking in on me.. In retrospect.. I wish i would have kept this whole ttc thing a secret!

My DH and I have been trying for about 10 months now. I cried my way into the infertility dept. They typically don't see you until after 1 full year of trying.. but... I was convinced something was wrong with my cycle. I was ovulating on day 15-17 and getting my period around day 26-27.. I thought i had a short luteal phase.. and that would be the issue. The doc didnt seem too worried about it though.. probably because they are going to start me on medication to help with ovulation. We will see. I'm trying to stay positive the next few months.. as the doc says the chances of getting pregnant are highest in the first three months of treatment. Fingers crossed!

How long have you been trying? I recall seeing you in a few other threads... I had to take a long break from the site because I found I was stressing myself out even more.. and when I saw someone got their BFP.. i had a pity part every time. Of course i was happy for them.. but jealous as the same time. Know what I mean?

Are you doing any type of treatment?

Oh.. by the way... I stopped charting last month after my visit with the doc. He said.. if you see you are consistently ovulating on day 15-17.. then you dont need to chart every month! lol... i think it was stressing me out a bit too. i would constantly analyze the fricken charts! So.. no charting for me.. for now! :) have you found charting and the ovulation tests to be helpful?

hey ladie,

was just passing by and wanted to share my experiance with you. We have been put in the unexplained club. I have had 21 day progesterone test done and a lap and dye and DH has had his test done everything is fine and no reason for it not to happen. We have been trying for 18months now and nothing! My cycles are around 23-25 days and I ovulate around day 15 so I think my LH phase is too short. Doc does not seem to think this is a problem. We are not getting any further appoints until september now 6 months from my lap and dye. Everything takes so long in Scotland unless your paying for it. I think this will be the next route for us I am going totally out of my mind and the doctors just dont understand!

Maybe we will get all our BFPs soon!

would be nice to hear your stories also.

xx

Hi Annette!! I have been trying about 10 months as well. I see you did your first IUI.. I am thinking about doing mine next cycle. I am in the 2ww right now... trying not to think about it or symptom spot... I am 10 DPO right now...
I hope the iui works for you, I heard that the success rate is higher for couples with unexplained infertility... good luck and let me know how it went!
xoxo

We were put in the "unexplained" category as well. It was devastating. If I had some idea of what was wrong then maybe I could fix it or come to terms with it. Nothing wrong- but somethings wrong- is awful! Anyway- I think different countries have different protocols for fertility treatment. We were NTNP for 4 years and that was enough for the doctors to start treatment. We did 3 rounds clomid and 2 rounds injects +3 IUI and nothing. We've decided to focus on the idea that SOMETHING in wrong the doctors just can't find it. So we're going to quit Western Meds for now and focus on whole body health. Then in a year move to IVF if that doesn't help. GL! Its hard but we can all get through it!

Good Morning Arianne!

I had this long message ready to send to you last night .. but for some reason.. my computer goofed . We seem to be in the same boat.. I'm due to test on Fri.. not really feeling any different. I am a POAS addict.. so of course I took a pregnancy test today.. and it was a BFN. I plan on taking another test wed.. then fri. This whole ttc process has been emotionally draining... and I havent even been trying that long considering some women in here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed... but.. I think i may be out this month. The good thing is .. we are going on vacation starting sat... so if i get my bfn ... i will be able to relax and forget about it for a week in Hawaii !

I may have to skip treatment next month though.. considering i will be on vacation.. I may miss an appt or two.. we'll see!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!! Keep me posted! Oh.. if this month doesnt work.. I'm going to try this type of " massage " for next month! I will keep you posted.
