Well my baby boy arrived on December 19th at home, delivered by my husband with 911 giving instructions!

I had cramping earlier in the day that had stopped after a few hours, only to resume before bed. I went to bed with minor contractions, not thinking anything of them. Fell asleep easily, awoke around midnight to pee and said to my OH that I was disappointed that those contractions ended up being nothing.

2am arrives and I woke up with real contractions. Had a bowel clear out followed by water breaking at 211. By then my contractions were already 2-3 min apart. Woke my husband up and we got ready to go ( which included waking our 2 1/2 year old up). It was 230 ish by now, and my contractions were getting very painful, i could barely move. Which meant that just getting dressed was taking time, on top of having to have more bowel clear out and being nauseated and holding head over toilet for a few min...

Got boots and coats on by 3 and just as we were about the head out the door, i got the urge to push. I collapsed and told my OH to call 911 cuz I needed to push.

My husband called at 311, took my pants off as instructed and I was crowning! 3 pushes and Owen Christopher was born at 320 am. The whole time my daughter was there watching, and she was crying because I was screaming in pain - she kept saying "mama hurting" poor girl.

We live 20 min outside of town so the ambulance didn't arrive until 10 min after birth. My husband tied off the umbilical cord as instructed by dispatch. Baby was on my chest, breathing well and had a few good cries so he was all well.

Ambulance arrived, cut the cord, and got me transferred to stretcher and into ambulance. Delivered the placenta in the ambulance, and breastfed my little man on the ride to the hospital.

Owen was shivering when we got to delivery room, and his blood sugar was low, so he was taken to the nursery while I was assessed. I was lucky as I had no tears or major bleeding ( I had a hemmorhage with my daughter).

As of right now Owen is still in the NICU as his blood work showed an elevated white count which indicates and infection. He is on IV antibiotics and we are waiting for his blood cultures to come back - hopefully by tomorrow. Until then he has to stay in nursery. His sugars are fine, he is breastfeeding pretty well, and isn't acting sick. But he did need oxygen for a few hours yesterday and he was having a hard time regulating his temperature. But all is well now just waiting for the test results, which hopefully show no infection and then he can be dishcharged.

It sucks that he is in the nursery. I will probably be discharged this morning, but will be staying in a room that they have for moms with babies in NICU so i can continue breastfeeding.

So that's my labor story! My husband helped me deliver our son on the kitchen floor with my daughter watching! Thank goodness we weren't in the car otherwise he would have been delivered on the side of the road!

This is so amazing and inspiring. I fear having my third at home as much as I really really want to but have two young kids and wouldn't know what to do with them. This give me hope that I can do it though and I know I could I just would have to find a way to do it. This will be one that I feel will probably be very memorable to you no matter what! He is very precious! Congratulations!

Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your story!
