Just a rant but this hot weather has meant my 2 cats have brought me some new house guests......FLEAS!!!!! grrrrrrrrrr

Stupid pointless little creatures.
Stupid frontline didnt work so have had to does them with stronger stuff
Had to spend a fortune on powders and spray for the carpets!!

Did the whole house on sunday and yesterday found 4 lil ones who thought hubby was a cat!

Just when i want to rest up and get through the last week and a half of work, my feet are covered in flea bites and i just feel miserable :( I am barely sleeping due to being too hot and itchy, and hubby is the same.

Really just want to torch the whole house!!!!

same here hun im going to be getting indorex spray alot of people reccomend it and 1 can off ebay is £10 and does a 3 bedroom house and "lasts up to 12 months", frontline i found didnt work i use advantage instead on my cats as it works so much better (and cheaper) x

They are so annoying arent they!!!

Advantage is the stuff my dad gave me, glad to hear it works better! One is still a little itchy but he seems to be getting better. I have ordered some more from the net - so much cheaper than stupid frontline!

I will checkout Indorex :) if all else fails im going to get one of those room bomb things! lol

I've found that Frontline is absolutely usless of ridding fleas from our cat, we now use Bob Martin granted it's not all that cheap (but neither is Frontline). Just have to find the one that does kill the fleas and doesn't just prevent them, which was a mistake we made in the past. Our cat hasn't had an outbreak now since last summer thankfully.

I'm feeling itchy now! We literally used Frontline on our two male cats last week, hope it works!

Frontline is bloody useless we use advantage and have used the carpet spray as it kills flea eggs aswell so stops them living in the carpets! If in the UK a good website is vetUk its much cheaper and sells everything! Xx

Noooooooooooooooo, don't use the powders or house sprays! The shops wouldn't even sell that stuff to me because it's so dangerous for pregnant women. I checked with my doc and she said definitely no sprays, only frontline or similar products that go only on the cat and not in the air.
If it helps mine had fleas a couple of months back. I did frontline first, which sort of slowed the fleas down, then I changed to a cheaper version, and that killed them off completely. They told me in the store that fleas are starting to develop an immunity to frontline which is why it isn't always killing them off anymore. x

Everything i have read online says that the sprays and powders are fine. Its only long term exposure to pesticides in early pregnancy that is bad for baby. Pets At Home had no problems selling it to me on Sunday and i definately look pregnant.

"It should be safe for you to use flea sprays during pregnancy. Flea sprays and other domestic pesticides are highly regulated in the UK. No flea sprays that you can buy are known to cause birth defects in an unborn baby. "

Is it safe to use INDOREX® SPRAY if I'm pregnant?
Yes, it is safe: no toxic reaction has ever been recorded to permethrin other than skin irritation following contact with 'raw' liquid compound and pyriproxyfen has even been incorporated into the drinking water in the Far East to control mosquito larvae.

I have a client who is pregnant and has a young family. Can they still use Indorex?
Indorex is fully approved by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for its safety in the household with amateur use. The molecules bind electrostatically to the surfaces they come into contact with and cannot be disrupted. There is therefore no risk to babies and children crawling on the floor. There are no data that indicate that there will be a risk to pregnant women, babies, young children or mothers who are breast feeding.

Hubby is going to do it all again tomo with the sprays etc while i am in work so the house can be well ventilated and all clear by the time i get home just to make sure but it really does need doing, and i would rather do it now while my body can protect baby than having to de-flea the house with a newborn and have him being bitten.

When I had fleas I called my local council and they sent out an exterminator. I think we paid £16 and he sprayed the house.
We had to leave for 2 hours and then not Hoover for 10 days.

It solved the problem though :)
